Seems like the last smart sitcom was Modern Family.
I now stick to movies and watch lectures.
Biology And Human Behavior by Robert Sapolsky or any lectures by Sapolsky are all excellent.
Neuroendocrinology is the most exciting thing in scientific research recently.

There are some excellent streaming comedies. Fleabag and The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel are two of the best produced comedy series I've ever seen. Just gotten started on Emily in Paris and it looks promising as well.

I haven't watched American TV for years other than sports or the Science Channel.
Good for you. Here American TV is everywhere. Last Man Standing seems to be ubiquitous and it should have been noted as being notably unfunny at it’s inception in the States.

Don’t know those but may check them out if available.

Was thinking it over and realized that the last American sitcom's (or any other shows for that matter) I actually watched were "Frasier" and "Home Improvement" so that tells you how long I have been away from American TV shows.

Tim Allen has always been my favorite funny man.

I never got into cop shows, hospital dramas or any of those so that leaves very little to watch on network television. I would walk over hot coals before I'd ever sit down to watch any of the reality shows like Big Brother.

The last comedy I liked was Seinfeld. Frasier was very good and Home Improvement I also enjoyed.

The last good cop show was Barney Miller

I started thinking about this; Barney Miller had a cast of about half a dozen and had pretty much just one set so it was likely cheap to produce and better yet, everything fell on the writers, the actors and the direction. Every sitcom should have to fall into this style.

Cheers was a similar setup. One set and a handful of great characters.
