Anticipate the political fallout from the Zimmerman verdict.

Emotions are high among people who thought Zimmerman should be spending his first week in jail. In many ways the Zimmerman case took on characteristics that defined it by politics and even race. Riots and looting are things that should never be considered civilized responses in cases like this. The civilized reaction people should have when they suffer what they think is a political and/or social setback is vent their frustrations is peaceful ways; non-violent expressions of speech and the ballot box.

As what we saw in the 2010 congressional races in response to the public not being sold on Obama's healthcare initiative, will there be a backlash by black voters and democrats in general in the next election cycle, not so much in swaying many votes to their side but firing up voter turnout? What's interesting is in the state of Florida it was the Republican political structure that was standing with the Martin family and against Zimmerman. It was Republican Governor Rick Scott who appointed a special prosecutor. It was Republican State Attorney (an elected official in the state) Angela Corey who agreed to have the Jacksonville district prosecute the case in Sanford 150 miles away. However, nationally the grassroots Repulican culture was solidly behind Zimmerman. There's also the argument that even in Florida, the reason the Republicans agreesively took sides is Gov Scott was forced to due to massive protests getting world wide attention and his possibly concerns over if upcoming re-election.

IF Holder gets his way and goes for a racial hate crime, I believe the backlash will be swift and severe. The 80% of this country that knows that the verdict was just and needs no further attention will rise up and defend itself like never seen before. The vocal minority better leave sleeping dogs alone.
