The anti-Christian movement seems to be growing stronger and gaining smoke. The comments made against our VP and his wife are just alarming.

This man has strong beliefs. He has faith. The numerous insults and personal attacks being made against him and his religion are disturbing. The attacks being made against Pence are not just against him, but being tethered together with attacks against Christianity. The majority of mainstream Christians are not anti-LGBTQ. You do not see even see extreme Christians attacking or causing harm to the LGBTQ community. Compare Christians attitudes towards the LGBTQ to that of the Muslim faith... it is not even debatable.

Christians are being brutalized and attacked globally, particularly in India. Christians and LGBTQ are very much allies in a fight against intolerance and religious persecution.

Was it virtue, or self-seeking?

Yah. Is Pence taking heat for endorsing Trump & more-or-less proclaiming that Trump was the best Christian available for the office of the US presidency? I think a lot of the ire directed @ Pence is for that political stance, & helping Trump to overcome considerable distaste in the US Evangelical & socially & religiously conservative communities in order to place a secular crown upon Trump's head.

If it's political heat that Pence is facing, it's a fair charge. With everything that's surfaced about Trump's virtue & faith life to date, I think it's a worthwhile question: What did & does Pence see in Trump that justifies Trump's elevation to the presidency of the US, leader of the Free World, heir to the moral mantle that goes with the office in the US tradition?

Yah, Christianity is under attack in various parts of the World, true enough. But is that all political? In the case of India & the Islamic world, China & other places - the reasons range from theology to a sheer unwillingness to concede any legitimacy to any part of the culture that favors Western Civilization values - religion included. To me, none of that explains why Pence is being questioned on the issue of Trump - that's an entirely different thing, unless someone is raising anti-Christian reasons to oppose Pence & Trump's accession to the presidency.

A simple matter of politics.

Trump won the nomination. VP's are often chosen to help win the election.

They don't have to agree or be in lock-step with the Party's choice; but if they want their turn at the top slot, then serving as VP is the next step.

Good example? JFK and Lyndon Johnson.

Then I suggest he adopt a more accurate belief system if he doesn't like people thinking he's stupid. Also, the harm to the LGBTQ is done by the religious people not wanting the LGBTQ community having the same rights they enjoy.

Oh forgot to add. Bucky, the picture you uploaded of yourself in the other comment section is quite brave of you! LMAO!

Religions don’t get a free pass for me. If a religion endorses something I think is wrong then I am going to criticize it. Islam and many denominations of Christianity hold horrible views toward the LGBTQ community. Yeah, it is worse in many predominately Muslim countries, but here in the US Christianity has been the culprit.

Yes, the OP is 100% right.

In 2019 America, if you criticize Christianity, nothing will happen to you.

But if you criticize any other religion, you will be kicked out of school or fired from your job.

You will be called a "bigot" or worse.

Nope, not even close. Criticizing wrong beliefs is perfectly legit. But that's much different than criticizing the person who holds those wrong beliefs.
But its a good thing no democrats were called "unpatriotic" for criticizing the false narrative used to get us into war and kill thousands of our precious volunteers.

Quoting Bucky...

You can thank the liberal/Demos for leading the way no thanks to barack "mo dee" obama. You can read the anti-Christian comments from a few members around here.

So, that's why VP's wife wants to work at institution that bans LGBTQ children and requires employees to declare their religious beliefs? How tolerant of them.

The school requires a pledge for living in "moral purity", where "moral misconduct" would disqualify "employees for premarital sex, cohabitation, extramarital sex, homosexual or lesbian sexual activity, polygamy, transgender identity, any other violation of the unique roles of male and female".

Yet, the couple does not have an issue with *****-grabbing President who has had five children with three women, let alone paying a porn star and a Playboy model to conceal his affairs with them.

Code for: We don't like it that our privilege is being taken away from us...…...so we must view this attempt at equality as "anti-insert identity here".

Overall, this backwards way of viewing things is exactly what gives people the ability to see that religious people are bigots.

That's just silly. So did all Christians who worked at CBS become hypocrites for working for a sexual predator?

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr was a religious person so I guess he was a bigot by your definition.
..I forgot...LMAO.

If Christians wanted to be allies with the LGBTQ they'd stop trying to pass laws against their ****in rights. But I'm glad to see you use your avatar space to support the LGBTQ community. Thank you for that. You and I disagree on most things, but I'm not above giving you kudos when its due.

All the ones that agreed to be #2 to him AFTER they knew he was a sexual predictor.

Oh please. We're supposed to buy it's only a small minority of christians who spout their hatred for any human they see as breaking god's laws. Pence might as well impose sharia law his religious ideas are so extreme. How about we just leave religion out of politics completely. It's only used as a weapon in that arena anyway. How can any so-called christian support this president?

I've personally have had enough religion to become an atheist. Killing each other over a god or a book seems rather ridiculous to me. Hey bob, what's that behind you in your avatar pic? Is that why you're smiling?

Hilarious isn't it. The big bad GOP. Party of fiscal conservatism. Party of family values...and what a family. Party of law and order, except for the trump administration. Party of christianity...gotta love all those evangelicals twisting themselves into knots defending this guy. Are there any other portions of the GOP I've forgotten to mention who are subordinating their beliefs for this president?

Happy Holidays

Religion has no business in politics.. Pence and his wife try to promote religion in their politics...hence they are a threat to everybody.

Heh, that isn’t me in the avatar. That is Carl Sagan standing in front of a bunch of, well, you obviously know what he is standing in front of. :) I am a fan of what both things in that photo had/have to offer.

Pence is no different to those attacking Christians in other parts of the world. He perpetuates and promotes a harmful view of LGBT that directly leads to violence and bigotry. Imagine, for a moment, a VP that supported banning Christians from getting married, supported "conversion therapy" for Christians, sought to amend the Constitution to prevent Christians from getting married, supported legalising discrimination against Christians and wanted a "Don't ask, don't tell" policy for Christians in the military. Would you be accepting of someone with those beliefs because they had "strong beliefs"?

Trump insults, name calls and threatens people almost daily. So it is funny seeing Trumpsters say it is 'alarming' when one of their own is criticized.

Oddly enough I was thinking, this guy looks like carl sagan. Yeah, me too.
