At the time what he said was not ignorance. The medical community knew very little about AIDS or how it was spread. He was being pragmatic.

I was there too and I remember the hysteria, fear, and panic. The problem is that when little is known about X, there is no science to follow.

Therefore, we should not bow down to mandated placebos and social engineering tools while studies are being conducted.

That was the state of science about HIV/AIDS in 1984. Do I need to explain that was 38 years ago? Our understanding of the AIDS virus has improved immensely in that time period. We are now on the verge of an AIDS vaccine and a cure instead of just drugs that control the virus.
