Another Trump promise broken. IVF? Nope.

Beginning in August 2024, Trump claimed that, if he won, he would make IVF free. “Under the Trump administration, we are going to be paying for that treatment,” he told NBC News. “Your government will pay for — or your insurance company will be mandated to pay for — all costs associated with IVF treatment,” he said at a Michigan event. “Because we want more babies, to put it nicely.”

Nope.

If anyone believed that, I have a bridge to sell them.
He probably said that after some born again right wing donor whispered in his ear about the need for more white babies.

That's the sound of trump talking out his ass again.
Well, that's another thing I disagree with the president on. What gets me though, is people like you canonicalizing all the broken campaign promises, but never doing the same for democrat presidents. Stop the bias and be fair.

Biden actually got things passed through Congress and not with eo's alone.

Who cares how it is done?

He achieved some major wins for our freedoms.

Which position? The one he promised or the one he is taking?

Like me. Sorry, But I am on record having voted for and critiqued presidents on both sides of the aisle.
I freely admit I've been more critical of republican president simply because they so often disagree with their policy ideas.
I heavily criticize trump because he is a sleazy criminal who lies with reckless abandon, whose ideas are inherently stupid, who lacks character and morals.
But I said that about trump long before he decided to play at politics. He is no different now, but the stakes are much higher.
Trump is doing a lot of damage to our country.
This is far beyond campaign promises.

.

With all the DOGE "savings" and the increased revenue from trump's tariff taxes, why can't some be used to ensure his IVF promise is fulfilled?

Would love to know the proportion of voters who didn’t recognize that as an obvious, shamelessly opportunistic lie in real time.

Is there a link to something where he says they're jettisoning that idea?

Another day, another set of broken promises and lies.

It’s been very quiet on that topic. I found this;

A senior administration official, who also spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss internal talks, said that while expanding IVF access remains a “huge priority” for Trump, the president can’t legally make IVF an essential health benefit without Congress first approving legislation to do so. It is unclear whether the administration plans to ask lawmakers to take up a bill, but the two people said that forcing insurance companies to cover IVF is not currently on the table.
Kaylen Silverberg, an outside adviser to the administration who has been pushing for more IVF access, also said in an interview that the White House has most recently asked him about a fertility approach that prioritizes holistic health over tools like IVF. Implementing that alone would fall “very short” of Trump’s initial promises, Silverberg said.

Interesting article.

Biden actually got things passed through Congress and not with eo's alone.
And came within two Senate votes - Sinema and Manchin - of passing the best spending in decades.

The Evangelicals would never accept it so it was never going to happen.

He hasn't even been president for a year.
