At least one person is dead, and four are critically injured after a shooting Sunday at a church in Laguna Woods, California, according to the sheriff's department.

"All victims are adults and are en route to the hospital," the Orange County Sheriff's Department said in a tweet. "One victim is deceased at the scene." Another person has minor injuries, according to the tweet.

The weight of carrying around a handgun all day long would be a major hindrance for those with walking impairments and people of old age. Furthermore if you're walking all day long instead of sitting and standing then you'll feel the weight of a gun much more. Just imagine going on a 10 hour hike up a mountain and having to strap a revolver around you along with a full backpack of gear. Or sightseeing for a few hours in sweltering weather. A miniaturised gun would be lightweight but it might be semi-lethal at longer ranges. A mini-handgun would also pose a greater threat of ambush from stealthy criminals.

Every second counts in a gunfight just like it were a duel. However the police aren't trained to give chase with a gun out the window since most pursuits don't end in a shoot-out. It'd be easier to shoot through the rear window glass than having the glass shatter right in front of you and so the criminals could easily ambush the cops driving behind them.



Escaping in a convertible or a motorbike would give the police less time still to detect a gun's aim.

A challenge with incomplete gun control is that the criminal street value of legally held guns will increase the more the guns are banned. Therefore a temptation to sell guns illicitly could arise even in those who never set out to do so.
