Obama's handling of the Afghanistan war has been a disaster. The so-called surge has failed and now Obama is attempting to negotiate with the Taliban. But which part of the Taliban organization(s) are the negotiations being used? Who is to say that with all the different divisions within the Taliban will they honor any final deals?

Afghanistan will undergo a civil war once we leave, or more likely another multi-polar tribal war, but that is pretty much inevitable no matter who is POTUS.

As long as Pakistan is allowed to harbor and train the Taliban I agree with you. From the start Pakistan has been behind the unrest, death and destruction within Afghanistan. The Islamist continue to advance their society and would rather live in the past.
