Arabs won big

TR:

Perhaps the Israeli Arabs won in the short run, but in the long run they may come under political attack more than they already have by Israelis seeking to disenfranchise them. So today's fleeting win may be tomorrow's enduring loss. Netanyahu is publicly blaming Israeli Arabs for these deadlocked elections and he is a mainstream politician. His sentiments are shares and amplified by other factions in Israeli politics which today are on the margins but which could soon become more mainstream if the impasses continue.

Cheers.

Right, but the arabs will vote arab no matter what, so more deadlock?

Arab Israelis "voting arab"? Arab Israelis are voting, as any citizens do, for their own best interests. They are voting and running in Israeli elections as Israeli citizens in order to be part of their country Israel. Just because they tend to vote differently from the now dominant right-wing, enthno-religious parties in Israel does not make them any less Israeli or more "Arab".

What I mean is that the rights attack on arab parties will not work

I hope you're right about that.

I think so, but my prediction is another 2020 arab spring to start off new conflicts as the old ones are being resolved

Israeli President Reuven Rivlin has tasked Blue and White's leader Benny Gantz with the first opportunity to form a viable coallition in order to lead an Israeli government locked in electoral stalemate. Can Gantz get a solid coalition together? Can he and his party successfully sideline PM Benjamin Netanyahu and drive Likud form power? Will Netanyahu be forced to face trial now that he is no longer PM (should Gantz succeed)?

These are interesting and trying times for Israeli democracy for those in the State of Israel who are allowed to vote.
