Now i know that if you're anorexic you stop ovulating and stop having your period. So i don't know how this would happen, but I wonder if this is one of these cases where an abortion would be better. In my opinion, the woman should eat and feed her baby because if she doesn't she will die faster. A growing fetus takes nutrients from the mom's body if she doesn't eat enough.

As a recovering anorexic, I wanted to comment. It's not as simple as telling the woman in question "Eat for your health, eat or you'll die" because she already knows she's damging her health, and she already knows she's at risk of death. It just shows you how strong a grip this disease gets on people if they're willing to risk their lives to get it going. When you suffer from anorexia, eating is literally the most terrifying thing in the world, and even after you start eating again, you're not out of the woods: you can relapse, or suffer physical complications due ton all the damage done to your body. For pregnant women, the dangers are even greater because, as you say, they're having to support a fetus. Unfortunately this situation often ends badly, with the deaths of the fetus or mother, (the Something Fishy ED Memorial Page has countless memorials for "unborn babies.") In addition to this, anorexics desire complete control over their bodies: meaning that going through a pregnancy where the body is constantly swelling, growing and changing would be hellish. It's for the above reasons that I would abort if I ever fell pregnant myself. Abortion should definetely be an option for such women.

My cousin was a recovering anorexic when she became pregnant with her first child. Her expanding body was hell for her-she exercised during the pregnancy and constantly afterwards. There is a period for some anorexics during their recovery when they actually eat to excess. Some become bulimic, others just eat and eat-my cousin was the eater as she recovered. She'd shy away from healthy meals but devour desserts. She got very heavy for a while before she found her balance, later becoming pregnant.
Anorexia is a mental control issue and it is very hard to overcome to the point of considering being permanently cured. People have the erroneous assumption that it's just a dislike of eating, but it's so much more. It's a way of the mind controlling the one thing it can control when the rest of the sufferer's world seems uncontrollable-the body it's attached to. I would not be surprised if someone going through it seeks out abortion immediately should they find themselves in that unusual situation and they are probably right in doing so.

We know two women...both are anorexic...both are on their second child...I am not sure where the stat comes from that says these women stop their period?

They are both great moms, and all kids are perfectly healthy.

Just as 'they' say that very athletic women and dancers have delayed or stopped cycles. I know it was true of my sister, a dancer, but she eventually did become pregnant, while I, the sloth of the family couldn't.
My cousin did have no menses the years she was anorexic; her first child was born after she turned 30, she was at her worst with anorexia from 12 to about 20 and was told it probably rendered her infertile. Surprise!
