But never in the history of the USA, has this been more pronounced and accelerated.

The debt ceiling should not be raised.....stopping wasteful spending and wiping out the debt, should be a priority.

If you mean restricting child labor by stopping forced labor, I'm ok with that. Trouble is, too many teenagers are lazy bums today, because they don't have enough to do.

I did yard work and washed and waxed cars for my neighbors from 8-18. I worked 15-18 hours a week at a hardware store when I was 14...it builds character.

Ending segregation by forced busing, so one ethnic group can go into previously peaceful white neighborhoods, raise the crime rate and impregnate the white girls....naw...I was never for that idea and still not.

Interracial marriages, to each his own...but I was never sold on the idea.

I agree with you on segregation...to a point and 8 year olds working in the coal mines...I agree there too. But there is no reason they can't work on the farm or ranches, wash dishes at a diner or do cleanup.

I tried that with my Dad......didn't work, he'd make me do it over and do it right, or I didn't get to play with my friends. I learned that lesson early on and did it good like it was my own business....and reaped the rewards.

The majority of kids nowadays, are soft and don't have a clue of what hard work and discipline are all about....unless they play a sport.

By the time I was 8, I could mow a lawn, pull weeds, rake leaves, trim hedges and shrubs, plant a garden and keep everything alive and growing for the summer. I was washing windows inside and out, vacuuming the carpets, dusting and polishing floors.
I had several cap guns, including a Fanner 50, knew how to aim, fast draw from a holster(one handed or two) and the detailed operation of same. I could name any car on the street at 3 years old and attempted to drive one when I was 6. By 10, I was talking the neighbors into letting me drive around the block. The first one was a 1953 Studebaker, followed by a '53 Pontiac and a '50 Plymouth.....then my Dad found out and whipped my butt with a razor strap. I didn't try it again until I was 12.
We didn't need a cell phone, or a computer, we had plenty to do. Oh ya, at 10 I fixed a complete breakfast one Saturday morning for my parents(bacon, eggs, toast, coffee and orange juice), before they woke up and served them breakfast in bed.
What did most of my classmates do at home, most of the time........why played of course, with a few mild chores.

Having studied history, I have to say that this assertion is a bit... ummmm... strong.

Do you have facts, data, citations, and/or a logical case you'd like to share in support?

Simply repeating the same unsupported assertion carries no weight for me. Nor do cute emoticons. Nor do lots & lots of posts. Nor does hyperbole. Nor does anger and aggression. Nor does defensiveness. Nor does doubling down on ignorance. Instead... if you state clearly what you know, what you don't know, what you suspect and why you suspect it... if you assume I'm not a fool (until I prove otherwise)... if you bring information to buttress your opinion... then we can begin to have a conversation that might be illuminating to both of us. If, instead, you simply want to rant... that's fine - I'll just add you to the list of folks not worth listening to.

My own read is that - yes, indeed, things are bad right now. As bad as they've been since the Robber Baron Roaring 20's brought on the Great Depression. And the more we allow concentration of wealth & power among the few... the worse it's gonna get. We're actually approaching an existential crisis - where our core national beliefs are being challenged by the impetus toward Oligarchy. So you are right to be concerned. But you should be concerned about the right things, and to the appropriate degree.

It applies to my point that many kids these days don't know what hard work, integrity, honesty and discipline are all about. They are soft and soft leads to demise of a country.

It's happening as we speak....been happening. This ridiculous decision on school bathrooms, by obama, is but one example.

Calls for gun and magazine bans, another. Gay marriage and gay rights, another. The US is being brainwashed by liberal, Communists professors(Angela Davis, Bill Ayers, and Ward Churchill, to name a few) and it's been going on for at least 40 years!
