An Appearance of Impropriety

We have been hearing the "closing in" line since day 1.
Mueller wasnt appointed to prosecute Manafort on events that happened prior to 2016. The regular Justice Dept through its regular channels could have done that.

Couldn't agree more about the length of the investigation. I wish he had completed it before the election.

Yes he's being investigated about his crimes committed before 16', specifically during his campaign. But when you are investigating a crime and find another one as bad or worst than the first one, he's rightly not going to turn a blind eye.

And as much as we're both frustrated by the delay, it takes time. But there's an upside, we know that the longer the investigation, the more crimes he'll be charged with.

And everyone knows that his personal Justice Department's investigation would be a fraud...

By the standard that you hope applies to Whitaker, anyone and everyone who is involved with the Mueller investigation from the FISA Judges to the authorizers to the investigators have violated the definition in question.

By that standard alone, this witch hunt needs to be terminated.

Whitaker has a predetermined conclusion without seeing the facts. Different from your scenario

The link you presented cites actions, not conclusions.

What are the actions you point to that support your certainty?

Nowhere as near as long as investigation of what type? It cuts both ways.

Don't be obtuse...there is already enough of that at this forum to choke a mule.... Of the Special or Independent Counsel type. Children......that simply know how to key letters... a DP hallmark lately.

Whitaker has said he would decrease Mueller's budget if he were AG, in order to "grind Mueller's investigation to a halt".

He also said, that Sessions recused, not because he had anything to "hide" but, Sessions recused because of an "appearance of Impropriety".

Which apparently is part of the legal lexicon, for when a judge should recuse himself.

So, Whitaker certainly has an appearance of impropriety concerning the Mueller investigation. Should he recuse?

In the sane and rational universe, Whitaker should recuse. How can Whitaker oversee an investigation impartially, when we have video evidence of him admitting his preconceived notions that he holds.

Maybe the evidence Mueller has uncovered will turn him, but, my thinking, is that Trump would not of picked anyone not 100% loyal to him rather than the country or, the law.

So, I don't expect Whitaker to recuse himself. Trump fired Sessions because he recused himself. So, Whitaker would have to be a genius level troll in order to make it into that spot, only to recuse himself. It's much more likely that Whitaker is in fact, a total sellout for power and an obsequious lapdog.

Whitaker does not have the same level of appearance of impropriety as does the pompous Rosenstein who continues to defy Congress and American laws by refusing to submit to subpoenaed requests for documents. Rosenstein is hiding documents which would expose democrat and partisan corruption in the fake Trump/Russian scenario but, hopefully, Whitaker can get all that mess cleaned up and force the AG to abide by the law.

The Justice Dept does not release documents regarding ongoing cases...PERIOD. Thanks for playing.

The biggest thing going in favor of the corrupt democrat fake spy investigation is that nobody is supposedly allowed to question the ongoing corruption which continues to be exposed in the corrupt investigation.

In normal circumstances, yes.

It's much more likely that Whitaker is in fact, a total sellout for power and an obsequious lapdog.
Or, you could acknowledge that this entire investigation has the "appearance of impropriety".It's a bold claim and thus requires bold evidence.

In a political dog fight - you fight political.

Maybe Muller has something, in which case I hope it comes to light sooner rather than later but from what we know publicly that is very unlikely and this just looks politicalize attack and should be treated as such by the administration.

That is the same illogical tendency that governs the discussion of breaking into the Florida vote count before it is completed thereby assuring that nobody can be held responsible instead of allowing the count to be completed and validated thus insuring that somebody can be held accountable.

Breaking into investigations is lunacy. It is grandstanding on a grand scale. It is purposeful interference in order to derail an Investigation without the actual intent of holding anybody accountable for anything just as breaking into an ongoing vote count is an effort to derail the count regardless of the consequences and ultimately without holding anybody actually accountable.

the Right's warped sense of righteousness (pardon the pun), utter and complete disregard for actually mounting an effective exposition of the facts even if the facts are on their side and their complete lack of understanding for any sort of investigative or legitimate process simply corrupts everything they try to do or want to do.

They simply make it obvious that all they really care about is the entertainment value of a dog pile on the carpeting. They don't care about holding anybody responsible. Believe it or not, the New Right is far closer to anarchy than anything else. Frankly it is going to self-distruct before getting to full blown anarchy but that is where it would inevitably end up if allowed to continue on its cockeyed way. But its not going to be allowed to continue on its cockeyed way, not dragging the rest of us down with them.

Quite a picture isn't it? Kansas Farmers and Minnesota Grandmothers wielding AR's in order to get a bag of groceries home howling the name of their hero all the while. How many of them do you think will shoot each other along the way. "Kansas farmer shoots and kills Minnesota Grandmother in Aisle 5. Clean up to Aisle 5".

Democrat protester: You cannot stop the secretive counting process in our democrat precinct until all the missing democrat votes are finally counted, no matter how illegally long it takes.

Democrat protester: You cannot interfere with a fake investigation based on lying democrat fake spy documents and conducted by Trump-hating Obamanite government officials because it is an ongoing investigation.

Democrat protester: You cannot investigate Hitlary no matter how many laws she broke because Herr Comey has declared she cannot be charged with a crime for not intending to get caught.

Republican: I do not get the sense that Devin Nunes, Trey Gowdy, Mark Meadows, Jim Jordan and others "don't care about holding anybody responsible."

So walking down to the WH from the other end of Penn Av as Devin Nunez did, picking up a document from the Executive Office building and then announcing in the WH driveway that he had delivered new information to the Administration that he "discovered" in his role as Chair of House Intel sounds like somebody interested in caring about holding government officials responsible. Holding hearings without issuing a single subpoena and then announcing that its all good sounds like somebody interested in caring about holding government officials responsible.

Congratulations, you just sent the lack of credibility meter right off the scale.

BS...I suspect all you care about is seeing a dog pile in the middle of the carpet. Government via entertainment...at best. Ultimately I doubt you are interested in any government at all.

If you don't allow Election Officials to complete and validate their counts, you have no ability to hold them responsible FOR ANYTHING. All you get is your dog pile in the middle of the carpet. If you don't allow Investigators and Prosecutors to finish their Investigations you can't them responsible either. All you get is your dog pile in the middle of the carpet. Thanks for playing.

States passed laws requiring prompt reporting of votes immediately after polls close. Democrats find that law hard to comply with as they add to the democrat totals daily until the democrat wins. Go stupid figger.

Florida accepts write in votes as long as they are post marked the date of the election and is accepting overseas and military ballots all the way up to Nov 16th. "Immediately" is not a relative term and would be an impossible standard to meet for any state. How is any state to announce the vote tally "without any interval of time after the polls close or straightway".

The problem is actually Florida Election Law which is a whacked out mess all the way from a screwy Ballot design and does not end there. It does not nearly end there. They need to completely revamp their system...all of it is a mess.

Florida law must be a mess since Brenda Snipes and another democrat or two are the only precinct workers in the state who struggle to keep up in every election and fail to turn in votes on time.

Its Florida that allows for anomalies county to county and even promotes them through things like its poorly designed ballet and in what looks more and more like an utterly ridiculous perspective on mail-in ballots. Maybe even the lack of standard training and maintenance practices by County Election Officials who are voted into their offices. But its the State's system. The State simply gets the performance it wants or ignores it way into.

Arizona may have to review their mail-in system if we do not want to wait over a week before Arizona can actually report its vote. Arizona is still only at 90% completed and here it is a week later. But clearly Florida has more problems than Arizona. Arizona appears to have only one big problem while Florida is just an Election Law disaster, an embarrassment especially when you consider Florida's chadgate experience.

Brenda Snipes is not alone. Democrats in Chicago for decades are known to have held key precincts until all other precincts were in to see how many votes those key democrat precincts needed to add to the total to give the democrat the win.
