Mexico president to order release of federal prisoners

Seems AMLO is getting ready to pardon some prisoners, those victims of torture and those who are elderly (over 75) and has not comitted serious crimes. He also plans to release no- sentenced prisoners who has been behind bars for 10 years or more. This would be a great step forward for Mexico whose prison system is completely broken and corrupt. I agree that people who has been years behind bars without being sentenced should be freed, they should have been freed years ago. And no one ever should have to face torture.

AMLO may have a mess on his hands if he starts releasing people who murdered someone.

Thus far it's people not convicted for serious crimes. But if you have been imprisoned without a sentence for more than a decade, you have served any sentence you can get. And if the government tortured you for whatever reason, they have wronged you in such a way that there need to be a price to pay.

not if you murdered someone...if you murdered people, it doesn't matter if you were tortured or if you have been in prison 10 years without a sentence...your sentence should be life imprisonment...
Should they allow people to go that long without a prison sentence? Of course not, should they release just whoever that applies to? Hell no.

How do you know the people who confessed to murder actually murdered anyone if they confessed under torture? When you are tortured you confess to anything just to make it stop. That's part of the problem, they have no idea if they have the right people or not when it comes to any prisoner that confessed under torture.

most of them aren't tortured. You realize that there is a ton of cartel activity and life is quite different in Mexico. In Honduras, another country this occurs in...only 2% of murderers are ever arrested....it is the most violent country on earth....Mexico has a cartel and gang problem and the people that are arrested are very few and far between innocent.
