What scares you the most about America's future?

Simple enough question.
Everyone seems to think the U.S. is going into the toilet, either because of extremism on the Right or the Left or because of climate change or wokeness or civil discourse or the threat of civil war. Simply, EVERYONE has a beef. And everyone predicting it is getting worse. So, in your humble opinion, what scares you the most about America's future?

Choices above in the poll section.

If none fit, what else scares you about America's future?

The current composition of the SCOTUS, their collective relatively young ages, and the infringement upon bodily autonomy. Just think about what they just did to over 50% of the U.S. population, including young females.

I picked three but they are all aspects of the same problem. Trumpism, The radical right, and Failing democracy.

If I was an American I would be scared of the national debt.

Oh, that's easy!

More violence.

Not political violence.

Just more street violence as some young gentlemen get bolder and bolder, and as woke district attorneys (such as in New York City and Los Angeles) continue to support the perps, not the traumatized victims.

The United States of America is imploding.

By the end of this century, there will probably be an informal (and peaceful) divorce among the various sections of this unhappy nation.

The American "experiment" was doomed to eventual failure, of course.

Ya didn't vote?

Legislative dismantling of our democratic system. Gerry meandering is already an issue. If the far right-wing gains more control of election positions and local legislatures, I'm afraid the attempts will become more brazen.

Are you scared of other imaginary beings, like Big Bird or Darth Vader, too?
Why in the world would you attack him for a very sane response? National debt should be the concern of every country. The fact that economics is not even mentioned in this poll is very telling.

Democracy failing then?

Why is it telling? I suspect you only read the poll question without reading further. If you had you would have noticed where I had added:

I mean, I could have listed dozens, but the poll section only allows 10 choices. I could have added "The inability of Americans to read further than the headlines, or the inability to answer a question without the snark."

Democracy failing then?
IMO that sounds overly dramatic, even if it is really not. That is why I added the comment about local and state elections. To me, that is a greater and more immediate fear.

Scares? Not my lens for events.

But I think we are path-dependently doomed to immiseration, ecological niche collapse, fascist minority rule and balkanization.
I hope you're wrong but I hear you.

I would add our failed system of education.

FYI, trumpism and democracy falling are synonymous.

Well, the number one priority right now in America is the economy. If that fails in a big way, then we are truly in for bad times. This poll is more of a sociopolitical perspective.

Are they? Because a Rightie will tell you Democracy is failing because of Socialists, Liberals, Woke, BLM, George Soros, Globalists, the FBI and the DOJ, and because of liberal SNOWFLAKES.

There are a number of things that worry me about America's future including:

1. We've become so divided that there really isn't anything that unites us anymore. The last time this country was really united was in the days following 9/11...and, of course, Democrats began to undermine that almost immediately.

2. The fact that we don't teach American history to our kids anymore. I believe what Woodrow Wilson said when he stated, "A nation which does not remember what it was yesterday, does not know what it is today, nor what it is trying to do. We are trying to do a futile thing if we do not know where we came from or what we have been about.”

3. The exit of Judeo / Christian values from our society. We can no longer agree on what is "right" or "wrong" anymore as we no longer have any common standard to define those terms.

4. The lack of civility in our society. Saul Alinsky's lessons have been learned and learned well by Leftist and include:

a) Rule 11: "Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, polarize it. Don't try to attack abstract corporations or bureaucracies. Identify a responsible individual. Ignore attempts to shift or spread the blame.

b) Rule 5: "Ridicule is man's most potent weapon. It's hard to counterattack ridicule, and it infuriates the opposition, which then reacts to your advantage."

5. Politicians that encourage Marxist riots in the streets (BLM, Antifa, Other Assorted Assholes) while simultaneously defunding the police and attacking our Second Amendment Rights. People make better subjects when they are unarmed, unprotected and scared.

6. Our government's complete lack or respect for private ownership in our country. I give you excessively high tax rates and Kelo vs. City of New London as evidence.

That should do for now...

You DON'T have a particular partisan view of things, do you?
How ironic that you included "Don't try to attack abstract corporations or bureaucracies." Then went on to blame everything on Democrats, Marxists, Government. Ironic.
