America's Economic Challenges are Self Inflicted
Now... a subject that might better be discussed, is: 'how to factor which companies under-pay people and drive people to rely on public service benefits to compensate for the short fall in wages.
IF they tax and add a surcharge to that taxation for failure to pay a living wages standards, it will be assured that those business who rely on the State and the Fed's to pick up the difference that low wages result to cost the state and federal, by leaving people to have to rely on state and federal to meet basic living variables, there would be no businesses in America unwilling to pay people a living wage. Because they would come out better to pay the wage, and write it off as a deduction, that to have a tax and surcharge attacked to them for not doing so.
Example: Walmart post profit in the tune of $Billions... every 3 months... There is NO REASON they cannot pay people a living wage with benefits, so no employee of theirs has to rely on any state and federal assistance to cover their basic expenses and medical coverage, when they are working "full time" for Walmart.
and if Walmart tries to make people "part time" to avoid doing this, "Add another surcharge for every employee, that is forced onto a part time position, with the exception of students who are claimed on their taxes under their parents, and that should have a cut off of 18 yrs of age for the purpose of 'adult wage payment". the only exemption would be if their child was in college or vocational or technical school. But to make that work, only X% of part time slots would exist, so they can't lay off people and try to cover them with part time.
When Union's put part time employees into the mix, they made it clear, that there had to be 8-12 hr between any two part time shifts. Example: 10am-2p,, the next shift could only work from 10pm to 2 am. When full time position came available, they were filled by those from the part time group who wanted full time, then they would go to hire from outside with any remaining position, full or part time to fill the slots.
America always functions better when the worker is considered ahead of the corporation, because it is the workers who produce the product or services and it is the work whose earned money, reciprocates to buy from the corporations. Without corporation being able to sell, there is no corporation.
Nations function by this principle, we complain about China but at the same time, want to see Chinese people earn, so they can become "purchasing consumer" and when they do, they are able to buy, both domestic and imported goods. That's what make "international trade function with a better system of reciprocating effectiveness for both their home country and the company they import from.
The Bretton Woods Accord in 1945, understood these dynamics very well, Countries that could not buy our products had agreement to buy our Bonds, as those countries increase production capability and uplift their people to be economic consumers, then they could buy our goods and would have to buy less of our bonds.
Trump did not understand this, because he only saw money in one direction, without considering that China has more than 600-8-900 people to uplift to become living wage earners able to buy domestic as well as imported goods. he only curtailed the process of that advancing with his tariff's because instead of getting a "TEAM OF ECONOMIST TO CRAFT THE AGREEMENTS" he came in "shooting from the hip" and resulted to damage our entire farm community and cost American consumer more money they could not afford to pay, while making it difficult for China to rapidly develop more of its people to become living wage earners who could have purchasing power for domestic and imported products and services.
The same self deluding ignorance is why he had so many failed business ventures that met bankruptcy, and he tried to cover it up with "excessive charges" for his services until he limited his customer base. His failure will continue to compound, as he will continue to waste away what could have been a lucrative income for strong stability of his brand.
The exact same ignorance damaged American Industry, when it destroyed it consumer base, by outsourcing, plant closure and layoff.... states suffered, cities suffered, communities suffered and the entire nation became a nation wrapped in debt, and reliant on low quality cheap import goods.
