A new poll shows that yes, most Americans don't trust or like what Donald Trump is doing as president, 35% - 64%. But, guess what? The poll also shows that those very same poll responders don't trust Democrats to run the country either, by the very same numbers (34% - 65%). In fact, Trump actually has Democrats beat by 1%! And, no, this is not a FOX News poll.

My sense is that much of the American public has rightfully come to the conclusion that neither party cares a whit about them. All they care about is "winning". Not the American public winning but in keeping their seats.

That is part of the reason I both get a kick reading the nonsense from partisans on both sides rant here at debate politics and at the same time disgusted by it.

Any port in a storm, eh?

Actually, that one poll is saying that Democrats in Congress are not particularly popular. Republicans in Congress are in worse shape than the Dems, by about 4%.

The report also says that 48% of Americans have "no confidence" in Trump. Both R & D in Congress fare much better on that count (30% / 29%).

Given that Congressional approval rates have been in the dumps for years, 35% is actually not too bad.

And nothing in that poll changes the fact that Trump has been the consistently least popular president since Ford. The poll says Trump is the least popular President, at this point in his Presidency, in 72 years of polling.

So thanks, but no thanks, for the cherry-picking.

They approved of Bush and then their big heads cut taxes and everybody wanted a big return on their windfall and Bush ended up handing Obama an economic crisis.

It was 100% a post-9/11 OOH RAH U S A U S A spike.

I see, and they cut taxes before this did they?

And then went to war on the credit card and as soon as Democrat, no more spending on credit to have him look good, instead, we'll have to spend ten times as much anyway as if we did spend a little to get started.

Now Trump's got the credit card again and I'd say go put the wall on it, but it restricts wildlife, and he's cut taxes and everybody is now looking how to extract more money from the economy with their windfall.

And what have the Democrats done?

Give us Obama?

Glorify gays?

Try to spend a little on education to get us started?

Fight for our roads, infrastructure and minimum wage?

You really are desperate, aren't you?

That poll question is about Democats in CONGRESS. Generic congressional approval polling numbers have been consistently low for as long as the polls have been asking that question.

Nothing obscures the fact that Drumpf's approval ratings avarage over his first 2 years, is the LOWEST in HISTORY.

Sorry, but try as you (and other Trump acolytes) might....that FACT is the headline that everyone is talking about.

What if we actually name names? What percentage trust, say, Bernie?

What's your point? That both are equally untrustworthy?

Gasp!

Actually, Bush 43 started out with a pretty good approval rating, which shot up after 9/11, deteriorated after that, bumped up again with the Iraq war, then eroded again. The financial crisis doesn't seem to have had a discrete impact.

Sounds like you got some other issues to work out, my friend.

Only a political hack would ever claim to trust a politician. No one should trust a politician, ever. Nor should we trust political parties. Those who do trust politicians and political parties are either ignorant or just plain stupid.

As others have pointed out, you are so desperate, you have to remove context and misrepresent results. A more accurate reading of the poll results is that Americans do not trust anyone in government. Why are you so desperate? Your radical right positions do not benefit at all from the poll results.

He was out of office by the time people woke up to what he did, and they still haven't woke up to it and all the young idiots are going to look at the Republican pack and think, "Oh, I like this idiot."
