American women can obtain abortions in Canada if Roe v. Wade falls, Canadian minister says

Given the number of state who already do, or will have laws on the books outlawing abortion- yea I think a lot will change. Probably be illegal or significantly restricted in the tri state area near me Ohio, Indiana Kentucky.
As here in Utah but just watch what happens in CA, OR and WA.

While there are no laws barring women in Canada from having an abortion, it's also not considered an enshrined right in the Charter of Rights and Freedoms, as it has been in the U.S. Constitution since their top court's 1973 ruling. No Supreme Court in Canada has ever said in a majority decision that a woman has the constitutional right to an abortion.

In Canada, abortion is legal, but it has not yet been ruled to be a "charter right."

In the US, if Roe v Wade is repealed, then the US and Canada would be on the same footing constitutionally. Only in the US, it appears that in some states, the people would democratically choose to restrict abortions.
There is no reason it would not be seen as a charter right, but unlike the US no politician here is dumb enough to try. Being anti-abortion is a great way to sink your political career in Canada unless you represent the deepest of the deep Conservative areas.

It was interesting to me that the interim Conservative leader sent a memo to the caucus telling them not to comment on the situation in the States. The last thing she wanted was some ultra conservative sounding off on the abortion issue. As you say, no faster way to tank your political career except maybe to talk about doing away with universal healthcare!

No worries.. the anti-abortion states will just make ANY abortion where ever it is done.. a crime, so when these poor women come back home, they will be arrested for murder.

Fleeing to canada....this really is the Handmaids Tale

Could the feds make abortions available on the military bases located in the states that have eliminated a woman's right to control her own body?

You think the cabal of filty-rich democrat congresswomen won't pony up and spend the fraction of their millions necessary to get them there? Or that a virtual plethora of other options might also be available?

C'mon - I thought you people were "pro-choice" - and yet, you don't seem to see any choices out there save the one - which if you think about it, means you're not pro-choice at all.
If you are truly pro life you would deploy military forces to stop women from leaving their state for an abortion
