Surprised? No. Disgusted? Partially. Wondering how many are in the Senate? Yeah, a little curious. Finally glad that the Socialists are owning up to their true colors and being forthcoming about it? Absolutely. Amazingly, my state only has 1 self-proclaimed socialist in District 10. The rest may still be cowering in the closet.

The stand-outs on the list maybe called the "no duh" DSA members:

Hon. Sheila Jackson-Lee (TX-18)
Hon. Bernie Sanders (VT)
Hon. Dennis Kucinich (OH-10)
Hon. John Conyers (MI-14)
Hon. Elijah Cummings (MD-07)
Hon. Barney Frank (MA-04)

Hon. Maxine Waters (CA-35)
Hon. Henry Waxman (CA-30)
Hon. Robert Wexler (FL-19)

We told the liberal all along. Hahahahahahah, they are nothing but commies. Bernie Sanders has always been a flaming commie.

i didn't realise being a socialist in America was illegal.

Who's discussing legality, genius? Obviously there wasn't enough room to get you on the list. Better luck next time.

to me, this seems to be a non issue, you can't seriously expect socialists to go in the republican party can you?

You are correct there! liberals=progressives=socialists=communists

BTW, can I quote you in my signature?

Gateway Pundit = unreliable

A scribd document that looks more like it took a page from the Democratic Socialist of America and added things to it, and we don't know who made it is pretty unreliable. Not impossible, but nothing I would want to actually bet on. In fact, I would probably bet against it being accurate.

Checked the Socialist Party of America's site, and I saw no mention of such a list, plus as Sanders pointed out, it looks like a copy-paste of the Congressional Progressive Caucus membership. I smell a fake.

Is that what you are suggesting Mr Sanders? It does look like it, and GP would be quick to fall for something like that.

Where the hell is McCarthy when we need him?

Where the hell is McCarthy when we need him?

Dear Everyone,

Please, never speak of McCarthy again. For the 100th time, we are sorry.

Sincerly,
Wisconsin

Looks like it's fake - the lists are identical in formatting, structure, etc. Also, the American Socialist Voter organization does not appear to have a newsletter. The Socialist Party of America and the Democratic Socialists of America don't have October 2009 issues of their newsletters either (they are the other orgs mentioned).

I saw and posted on how the document with the list looked like a copy of the page from the DSA, with the list appended to it. Your showing the identical list pretty much cinches it for me. Gateway Pundit, wrong again.

Thanks for taking the time to look into it, and this is why we have a separate section for blogs.

Not saying there is anything wrong with it but the Democrat Socialists of America used to have their member list online.
Don't know if it still is anymore.

Only person I remember that was on it was Cynthia McKinney.

The GP blog entry is linked to in the OP, and it links to the DSA page, and to the Scribd document. Take a look.

its not-but its too bad that their disease infects so much of our economy. a proper interpretation of the constitution would have been a rather effective prophylactic against that nonsense but FDR opened to doors and the infection has spread

No, I was just saying that it used to be available online from the DSA website.

I remember seeing a similar list a few years ago called the democratic-socialst alliance and I recalled many of the black dems were on it -especially Conyers and Maxine (the mendacious) Waters.

All I remember was specifically McKinney and I think, a few other real nutters.

I'm going to go out on a limb a guess that one of two things happened:

1) This is a straight up faked list, or
2) The American Socialist Organization actually released this list, but they just took the names of everyone in the progressive caucus and claimed them as socialists without their knowledge.

I very much doubt that 70 members of Congress affirmatively chose to join the American Socialists organization.

:lamo :lamo I think there are many wannabees right here at DP. I hope they don't drink as much he did - really got to his liver.
