America is in a funk, Seventies-style

Don't say that! I remember the 70's, that decade really sucked. The only thing good in the 70's was Led Zeppelin, the Eagles and Bruce Springsteen. Otherwise, it blew a big one compared to the decade before.

Oh no no no! The distraction people created for themselves in the tough times of the mid seventies still rocks! DISCO BABY!!!

Oh, FU! I hated that band! And I assure you, it is more than a feeling. What did they have, like 20 guitartists?

And to think, I actually clicked on your link. Now I gotta go wash my hands!

Not even close. George says it was going strong in the seventies:

George Clinton

I recall not long ago
When the funk it was goin' strong

And there were groups and songs so muh-thuh funked then, its like we're all listening to Marvin Hamlisch now:

Grand Funk Railroad
P-Funk All Stars
Funkadelic

Funky Sisters
Funky Hotpants
House Of The Rising Funk
Funky Bottom Bottom Funk
Funky Beethoven
Funky Streaker
Foxy Funk
Funky Sex Machine
Good and Funky
Singing A Funky Song (For My Baby)
We Want The Funk
Play that funky music white boy
Funky Town

We're not in a funk at all now. We may be Fergie-licious, or Bootie-licious, but we ain't funky. Thread's a bust, man. Sorry, bruh.

How dare you put GFR in that group. I used be really into Grand Funk in '71. They were a power trio with some awesome rock songs:
  • Inside Looking Out
  • Mean Mistreater
  • Paranoid
  • Were an American Band
  • Closer to Home
  • E Pluribus Funk
  • Footstompin' Music
  • I'm your Captain
  • Heartbreaker
They kicked a.s.s for a Detroit (home of Motown) rock band.

Ha! Put on an Allman Brothers record on at the same time you put on a K.C. and the Sunshine band record and see which one moves you the best. I bet you will "shake shake shake, shake your booty", but not the Allman's :rofl

They were only in the group because 'funk' was part of the band's name. Really no reflection, they weren't funky at all, of course.

I never liked Grand Funk very much, but I'm Your Captain is a good song. Still like to hear that one now and then.

When I was growing up in the seventies, I despised all funk and disco music. It was like there was a parallel world, with people like me listening to Rock, and this other population who wore platform shoes and the rest of that stupid John Travolta getup, and stayed out all night daaaancinnnn, yeaaaaah. The BeeGees should rot in hell for their crimes during that decade.
