I am Colombian and I am very interested in american politics but I still don't choose a political party as my favorite. Although I think that I am closer to the two traditional parties and the libertarian party, I still don't like them.
I am pro-life, I get angry when someone talks about drug legalization, I support same-sex unions but not marriage and that would make me a conservative. However, I support stem cell research, euthanasia and separation of church and state, which makes me liberal.
I like capitalism, a free liberal market. I support war in Afghanistan but I think that War in Iraq was unnecesary and stupid.
I dislike the Republican Party but I can't tolerate Obama's positions on international politics and diplomacy. I have some sympathy for the Tea Party movement but I think they are too radical for me. I don't like socialism, but I recognize that a green revolution is necessary. I support research of alternative sources of energy.
I admire many chiefs of state, presidents and prime ministers that support conservative agendas, like Angela Merkel (Germany), Stephen Harper (Germany), and Sebastian Piñera (Chile) but I reject others like the British conservative party, Sarkozy or the current Mexican government.
I also like some liberals and a few social-democratic parties and governments. I like the British Liberal Democrats, the Australian labor party, the Brazilian president Lula and the Japanese government. My favorite president is Álvaro Uribe of Colombia, who has combined conservatism with liberalism in a good way.
Please tell me if I am more similar to the Democratic party, the Republican Party or the Libertarian Party, because I am VERY CONFUSED.
