We value all life, but we don't think abortion should be a crime.

We are saddened any time a woman feels she needs to have an abortion, but we don't need to go about outlawing those feelings. We need to stand up as a community and fight to take the reasons for these feelings away, be they economic, cultural, social, medical, or rape and incest.

We have within our power to greatly lessen these reasons if we stand as a united community of love and understanding, not the heavy handed acts of government.

Can I get an amen?

Family planning (thank you, Ms. Margaret Sanger) and abortion are absolutely constructive and positive.

First, I envy the unborn.
Second, a woman owns her body.
Third, when I read about war-mongering "leaders" and vicious violent criminals and heartless white-collar criminals, I wish that they had been aborted.
 
I agree family planning is consecutive and positive, while abortion is sadly just sometimes necessary.

And I agree we all own our bodies, so it is not the place of government to tell anyone, including women, what they can and can't do with their own bodies. It's a choice between a woman and her doctors and we need government to butt the F out.

It does sadden me when a woman feels the need to make that choice, but we don't need to outlaw everything that makes us sad. We need to handle it as a community with peace, love, and understanding, not some old men in a high castle laying down edicts.

What do you think of pro-lifers paying a pregnant woman to carry a fetus to term, for them to adopt?
 
What about morality? A woman who chooses abortion is an immoral one. I have read that a time or two right here on this forum. Something along the lines of "if she kept her pants on" or "kept her legs crossed." Yup, on this forum and other debate forums. I kid you not. Why? Because the fetus is life and a woman should not have the ability to abort that life. Because it says so in the Bible. At least that is what my pastor says. Unborn fetuses are more valuable than a woman's.

The best societies are those that have control of their women, haven't you heard?

I'm pro life in the sense that it saddens me when any innocent life is lost.

But at the same time.......... It's not my place judge any woman on her decision.

You have the usual idiots on here that use the argument about men wanting to control women, but the same idiots refuse to looks at the statistics regarding women views on abortion.

Which gender, male or female, among our regulars argue for or against restrictive abortion laws
And which demographic, liberal or conservative, among our regulars argue for or against restrictive abortion laws
You might discover a pattern

Maybe if Republican men got more *****, they wouldn't be so against others enjoying sex? What is it with Republicans and sex?

What is going on in your bedroom, between you and your lover, between you and your body, and between you and your conscience is THEIR business, haven't you heard?

Actually, considering how hyperbolic they get when discussing genitals, I have to wonder if there is something else "stimulating" them
 
In addition to not restricting abortion - we need more robust access to birth control and greater economic support for the poorest among us.

Example: Daycare, diapers and formula (because not every woman can/wants to breastfeed) are ridiculous expensive. Fix it so women don’t have to worry about those costs and stress over them!

That’s how you lower abortion rates - not by restricting access to abortion.

Those costs are going to exist anyway when you force poor women to carry unwanted pregnancies.

Women with money are going to travel where they can access abortion. Those without are going to require “socialism” anyway.

That’s just reality.

My way allows choice, freedom and keeps women safe.
 
 
The thing is, after conception, that is not "a baby."

It takes 9 months and a birth before it becomes "a baby."

Calling it "a baby" is inaccurate. It is not being realistic.

To force a woman who does not want to carry through with a pregnancy to do so against her will is to force an unwanted child into this world.

a) The world already has too many humans.
b) Unwanted children are more likely to cause social problems.

Bad idea!

The technology exists for a woman to end a pregnancy. She should be allowed to choose for herself.

One would hope, after seeing pregnant women being turned away from emergency rooms and forced to miscarry in their cars, thst people would understand that the abortion issue is too complex to be left to moronic, theocratic politicians.
 
What's really interesting is that even with the new draconian laws that are strictly pro fetus because they are actually harmful to mothers and the actual born when it comes to emergency care, abortions have actually increased. Of course reducing abortions isn't the real objective because if it was then providing medical care, housing, additional financial support, sex education, emotional support etc. would be infinitely more effective in reducing the number of abortions. But that would be hard and require resources which the pro fetus crowd is not really interested in providing. Goes against their religious and moral beliefs. It also goes against most Americans beliefs concerning freedom.

Bingo! The best way to minimalize abortion, is to improve society. Most modern European countries - including where Catholicism is not prevalent - have abortion rates multiples less than the U.S.

What those European Countries have is strong social-systems & social support. A young single pregnant women doesn't have to feel like she's lost & on her own. She has support & assistance, and a viable way out.
 

In general, it seems that most right-leaning people also object to such programs and vote against candidates that try to promote that cheaper, easier access to birth control, daycare, formula, diapers, food stamps, rental vouchers, etc.

When they also vote against abortion it's the ultimate in hypocrisy. "Force her to have the kid AND deny her programs for mother & child to survive."

Obviously also inhumane IMO.
 

It's emotional manipulation and is an indicator that most of that person's position is based on their feelings or religious belief. Or both.
