Here are links to five political tests. They contradict one another so I'll let you decide which is the most accurate. I already provided a link to the second one in another thread. Here they are, followed below by my results on each one, respectively:

Very fun those quizzes are when you have nothing to do :)

I was surpirsed they called me Socialist in many of them because I never really thought of myself as one. But it might be because I don't have too much of a strong stance on economic issues. Its mostly social issues that I care about.

Overall I suppose that I am a centrist. It depends on which test you believe, though. Which quiz do you think is the most accurate?

Ah, my favorite philosopher. Yes she was, but minarchism is a less accurate label than libertarian. Rand despised libertarians even though the politics was almost identical. Von Mises, Hayek, Friedman, Rand- all minarchists. But as I said before it's not an accurate label.

I thought that minarchists allowed only for a military and a police force. That sounds like something that Ayn Rand would support, but wasn't Friedman more moderate than that?
On another note, why don't you give me a libertarian rating (0% to 100%) on "My Political Platform" in the U.S. Politics forum? I'll ask some liberals and conservatives to do the same.

Arts&Sciences said:

From Wiki
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Minarchism
In civics, minarchism, sometimes called minimal statism or small government, is the view that the size, role and influence of government in a free society should be minimal - only large enough to protect the liberty of each and every individual, without violating the liberty of any individuals itself........Minarchists often disagree on exactly how to accomplish this.

The term "minarchist" is just as broad as liberal and conservative. It does allow for moderation and extremism as you pointed out between Rand and Friedman. It's all built upon the principle that gov't is a paradox-or nessesary evil-in it's existence to maintain freedoms.

Perhaps it's a poor label to apply to myself because it is just another overgeneralization.

The word centrist can be used to apply to many different political viewpoints as well. Rudolph Giuliani is often described as a centrist, as is Bill O'Reilly, but I strongly disagree with both of them on important issues. There will never be a "centrist party" simply because centrists, by definition, don't follow a party line. It is questionable whether or not centrism is a political ideology in the strictest sense. What is your opinion?

Arts&Sciences said:

No, Anarcho-communists view the socialist transition stage as uneeded and want to go directly into the communist society, virtually, I view the socialist transition stage as probably needed.

I consider economics to be a balancing act between allowing individual enterprise and controlling its abuses- but that is just my opinion.

Would you vote for a very fiscally liberal Democrat if no socialist were running?

Arts&Sciences said:

Maybe, I don't vote because I see only Dems. or Reps. getting power anytime soon, but out of both, I tend to be more in view with liberals, I like some of their social views and tend to keep more on trying to eliminate stuff like poverty than cons., but I still don't like the Dem. Party.

I think that I'm about halfway between the Republicans and the Democrats- does that sound right?

Oh, I get it... you're saying that the Republicans and the Democrats are roughly the same. Seriously, though, do you and curt think that I'm about halfway between the two parties?

Yes I do view Democratic and Republican Party as little in difference.

From those tests I would say you're probably in the middle, maybe leaning a bit more towards Dems, as they are becoming more moderate than the Republican Party.

How odd...

I am -10.00 on left/right, and -8.77 on Authoritian/Libertarian. I am totally opposite on economics, but a bit the same on social.

Well, George W. Bush certainly has led the Republicans well to the right, but Howard Dean is leading the Democrats just as far to the left. I think that both parties are becoming far too extreme, but that's just my opinion, and it is rather predictable (0.25, -1.38).

That's why us extreme extremists can at least agree on a thing or two.

I have to say, the communists around these parts are far more polite than in the forum I used to frequent. They were however all Europeans, so that may explain it.

What do you think about the inclusion of the two questions I proposed should be in the Political Compass? I'd enjoy hearing your opinions on them.

Well, Mikhail Balkunin and Murray Rothbard would have been the same on the social axis (-10.00), but they would have been opposites on economics.
