All I have to say is...

Grats.. hockey still sucks.

Lol.

Actually, I disagree.

Hockey is great.

It's professional hockey leagues that turn a great game into a bit of a joke...IMO.

Take out the fighting and the dirty hitting (which the NHL gives pathetically small suspensions for)...and hockey is a fast, flowing game.

I still prefer football though.

Chicago deserved it...they were clearly the best team all year.

I see you have never dealt with Maple Leaf fans. That is the worst part of hockey.

The last time the Hawks won in 2010, I was stuck in Texas and wasn't able to celebrate, so this one is very special to me now that I get to go to the parade wednesday. I may be drunk for a week so excuse my bad posting to come :)

Well someone is never immigrating into Canada then. Hockey is a rite of passage for immigrants.

I live in a hockey city (Columbus) which subsidized the Blue Jackets by buying the Nationwide Arena for them and cutting their rent fee from $9.5 million a year to basically nothing. Then as part of that deal.. the city asked Nationwide Insurance company to buy a 30% stake ($52 million) and give them the money for Naming rights to the arena. And how did the city pay for it? They took Casino money to make the buy even though that Casino money was suppose to go to other things.

Sorry.. hockey is a bankrupt sports model.

Take that team, bring it to a Canadian city with a minimum population of about 700,000 and watch it flourish.

Columbus is certainly NOT a hockey town if it does not support professional hockey.

Columbus is not a hockey city. It's a city that happens to have an NHL team. Winnipeg, a smaller city, has benefited from the recent inclusion of the Jets because people in Winnipeg actually like hockey. I've been scratching my head for a while as to why the NHL thought a team in Ohio was a good idea. Wisconsin would be a much better host state for a team.

It's a hockey city while being a college city. Columbus Chill (ECHL) were very successful in Columbus prior to the Blue Jackets. 191 sell outs for the Chill with a stadium out of the way off I-71 (right beside where the Columbus Crew play now). Problem is Blue Jackets suck on the player level and management level. If teams are winning, fans show up. The Jackets bring in about 15,000 fans a game, that's better then Phoenix, NY Islanders, Winnipeg and just short of Colorado.

You also have to consider this.. in the Arena District all the businesses get 33% of the revenue during hockey season during 41 home games. With the new divisions next year.. attendance will go up.

Is there a city left in Canada without a team? Winnipeg and Quebec had teams and those teams moved because of financial reasons. So that's not always true.

Umm.. Columbus supports the Blue Jackets, it allows them to play basically rent free, it spent billions cleaning up the Arena area (roads and such). If you put a ****ty team in any city they won't be profitable.

The Blackhawks had a pretty ****ty spell themselves during the 2000's. They started winning again.. and look at the support they are getting. Like I said.. winning is everything is sports. Doesn't matter if you are in Toronto or Austin, Texas (which doesn't have a pro team).. if you are winning fans show up, if you suck your stands are empty.

Ohio should consider itself lucky if someone wanted to put a landfill in that state.

NHL should feel luck anybody would take that landfill.. but I figured New Jersey would have accepted first. :lamo

I'm sure there's room in Florida for about 6 more teams. :rofl

Now with their Republican governor, they are also willing to mortgage the future of our Earth for a few right-to-work jobs. They'll never catch Indiana, the open sewer of the Upper Midwest.

This is what right-to-work states do. Subsidize to steal jobs from other states. They know they'll be bailed out. Meanwhile, they get the jobs and the team. And Uncle Sam and the taxpaper pay. But the IRS should stop that right?
