Under the radar during the last couple of days (as was everything else) was the Supreme Court's taking up a late term abortion case. It looks like the decision either way is going to be 5-4. The swing vote here is Justice Kennedy.

"A screaming man charged through the main doors of the Supreme Court's chambers during a hearing in a contentious abortion case Wednesday.

"Abortion is a sin," shouted the man, later identified by court officials as Rives Miller Grogan. Four court employees dragged him out of the courtroom.

Grogan's last known residence is in Los Angeles. He was taken to the U.S. Capitol Booking Center before being transported to D.C. Superior Court.

He was charged with creating a noise disturbance, resisting arrest and other related offenses, a Supreme Court spokesman said.

Some spectators left their seats and headed toward the door. None of the justices said anything about the disturbance. Such disturbances are rare in the well-guarded court chamber. Court regulars said the last one they remembered was in1983 when Hustler publisher Larry Flynt shouted obscenities during a hearing in his own case.

In less than a minute, the lawyer who had been speaking resumed her remarks, although the man's screams could still be heard in the hallway."

Although I begrudgingly support a woman's right to choose, partial birth and late-term abortions seem awfully sinister to me...

I suppose there are always exceptions that need to be dealt with, i.e. rape, incest, mother's health, yada yada yada, but callously doing it because the baby is 'inconvenient', I do have issues with...

I remember my wife becoming aware of my son's movements in the 2nd trimester... again, it just seems awfully sinister to me

I agree.

1) If pregnancy is by rape or incest, the victim should be able to get this taken care of in the first trimester, without governmental limitations, so that it is not an issue in the second or third trimester.

2) Exceptions for the life and health of the mother should ALWAYS be available.

3) There should be no exceptions for "convenience". This boils down to personal responsibility.

4) However, this whole issue should be decided by the individual states themselves, not the Federal government. Its none of their business.

I read there was a man dressed in a Jesus shirt that had to be tossed too. He sat quietly at first and then interrupted with a booming voice proclaiming they would all perish. Wonder if it was the same guy? How dare those goofs interrupt important discussions on which part of the baby is allowed to be out of the mother's body and still have the procedure be feticide vs. infanticide.

LOL.

Actually, I was in the middle of editing my post when you responded. Would you agree with number 4?

You might be surprised to find out how Conservative I really am. My issue up until this election was not with Conservatives, but with Neocons, who I regard as pretenders. Now that Bush has had his wings clipped, you will be able to see my Conservatism more clearly. :)

Oh, I knew it was there, I could tell by your rhetoric... The Neo-cons are just squatters on the top and most visible floor of the Republican Party... the evictions have begun... at least let's hope so...

Well, if what happens is what I think is going to happen, I will be coming home to the GOP in 2008. :)

I don't think you'll be coming home, I think home will be coming back to you, me and the true believers in Reagan conservatism....

I don't know right now of a candidate that I'm educated on that I get excited about... we'll see, though. It took a while for the Democrat party to get sold on and pumped about Bill Clinton, too if I remember correctly.

What do you think of McClintock from California?

Honestly? Haven't heard of him... will have to do some research on him...

Have you heard anything about Huckabee? He's the out-going Arkansas governor who's talking about running, but don't know if anyone outside the state has actually heard of him.

Why should "convenience" make any difference?

Tom McClintock is the guy who ran as a true Conservative against Swartzeneggar for Governor. The GOP could have won with him, but chose Liberal Arnie instead.

McClintock has the charisma of Ronald Reagan, and not only strongly believes in Conservative positions, but practices what he preaches as well. He is somebody who has the potential to really energize Conservatives in the party, and now would be a great time to make his move, with the GOP defeat and all. I am really stoked on McClintock, but from what I hear, he has no political plans anymore. The party should draft him. :)

Here is his bio.

Thanks for the link... I'll read up on him... I'm in the process of trying to learn more about Romney currently.

Still would like to know if you have heard of or have an opinion on Mike Huckabee... it's pretty wierd to think about another Arkansas governor making a run at the Presidency, although I think he only has 2 shots at it... slim & none... but that's what I thought about Clinton when I first heard he was running, too...

Wow this sucks. I developed an entire attack argument for any ulti libs that posted on this thread for the procedure.

They have wisely avoided it.

Just in case anyone wonders what a baby looks like at the end of the 2nd trimester:
