For the last couple of days, I have been hearing Specter and other Republicans, referring to Roe v. Wade as settled law, which leads to the conclusion that the GOP is going to sacrifice their position on Roe v. Wade in order to get Alito confirmed, and Alito himself seems to be taking a position that Roe v. Wade has already been settled. This, in my opinion, is a mistake. While I firmly believe that the Federal government has no business forcing states to ban abortion, neither do they have any business forcing states to have abortions. Roe v. Wade, IMHO, should be overturned on that basis (the 10th Amendment).
While Alito is Conservative enough for my preferences, I disagree with his position, and the position of the Republicans, that Roe v. Wade is settled law.
