Where's the SJW's? Where's the media? Why is this not on CNN, or MSNBC? I did a search for "Sylacauga 17 year old beating" and only a very few local news pages showed up with the story. WHY??? Hell, WBTV here in Charlotte covered it, and that's probably only because of what happened here over the last few weeks, otherwise they probably wouldn't have covered it either. Most if not all of the national news agencies are focused more on entertainment in the form of entertaining news, rather than presenting the news as it occurs.
Sure, sometimes they'll do a good in-depth report on something, but the day to day occurrences are not all covered.


It's all about the ratings.

That's the wrong question. The right question is, why would it be? News isn't automatically worthy of national attention until you prove it isn't. The opposite is actually the case; you assume it's a local story unless you can prove it deserves national attention.

Because no one has proven that it is. Thus we assume, as we do with all news stories, that it's a local story.

Does it not matter that the BLM theme was part of this crime? If not, why not? If so, then it should be run as a national story given that BLM has been a national news item since Ferguson occurred (August of 2014 - over two years ago) and recently with what happened in Charlotte?

You prove that people from New York, California, Delaware, or even Alaska may or should be interested in the story despite the fact it happened in Alabama.

A fight, or even an assault between high schoolers just doesn't rise to that level.

Not at all. These things happen all the time throughout the US and it never makes national news. Do you not remember being in high school and/or do you not have children, family members, or acquaintances in those grades who can tell you all about the ridiculous racially motivated fights that occur? This wouldn't even be worthy of the local news had it not resulted in serious injury.

Why would I , a California resident, need to hear about Trayvon Martin for 2 years?
What was so deserving of national attention in that case?
