As our neocon posters here have made such a ruffle about a false nomination of Rush Limbaugh for the prestigious noble award here's someone that really was nominated for the award by the Nobel committee. Eat your hearts out neocons. Since you've bragged about Rush's nomination, obviously then that says something about the prestige of this award. I wonder how our neocon posters would react or how Rush would react if the award really goes to Gore. I think something a long the lines of "The Nobel Committee members are a bunch of America-hating liberals who support terror and want to destroy the U.S." borrowed from bigcynicdotcom here
 
This happened a week ago or more. I thought there was already a thread on it, but perhaps not.

Funny how the Limbaugh nomination (which was obviously only a joke - in response to the Gore nomination) was poo-pooed and the award deemed as meaningless but now that it's been discovered that Gore was nominated, suddenly it's a high honor and prestigious.

The Nobel Prize became a laughingstock once Arafat won it. I don't see how anybody can take it seriously anymore. It's like giving a crap who wins a Grammy.

That's kind of what jfuh thought when Limbaugh was nominated - but then he found out about Gore and his tone changed. :2razz:
 
Meh, global warming doesn't seem to directly impact world peace enough to award Al Gore a Nobel Peace Prize. I'm sure you could make the case that it DOES affect it...but there are lots of other people working much more directly toward the goal of world peace.

I agree that the Nobel Peace Prize has made some mistakes, such as giving the award to Yasser Arafat and Henry Kissinger. But the Nobel people have had a lot more hits than misses. I especially like it when they give the award to prominent dissidents, because it puts the nasty governments of places like Iran and Burma on the defensive.

Did it? Please back up your lies CA. Where did my tone ever start dogging on the noble prize? Perhaps you have me confused with Hatuey who did dog on it? But come on, you're not a liar, so I challenge you to find anywhere I've dogged on it.
Interesting thing though is how "conservatives" bragging tone's changed when they realized the nomination wasn't bogus.
 
I dont get why he's being nominated for the Peace Prize. What has he done to promote peace? I swear these things are handed to the wierdest people. I think the only people to deserve their NPP are Mother Theresa, Ghandi, MLK Jr. and Muhammed Yunus.
 

Hell yeah I dogged it. Specially when crackheads like Rush Limbaugh and fakes like the Dalai Lama are nominated or win.
 
It is my understanding that Nobel nominations are inherently impossible to verify, since the Statutes of the Nobel Foundation expressly prohibit both nominators and the foundation itself from disclosing information about nominations and deliberations for a period of fifty years. Accordingly, there is no independent means of confirming that the nomination was actually made, nor is there any way to know whether such a public nomination was taken seriously by the committee.

That said, I have it on good authority that I have been nominated for this year's Nobel Peace Prize. Rush and Al, eat your (or each other's) hearts out.

Honestly I've no idea neither as to why he's nominated. But certainly is satisfying seeing the neocons so worked up about it that they have claim a false nomination for their idol Limpaw. Then turning around after realizing it was BS to start calling the award BS.
Agree with everything else you said though.

Honestly I really don't get the peace prize.
The award for Chemistry, Physics, Medicine, and even to an extent literature. Ok those I can understand (not so much literature though because it's too subjective).
But economics (I award thee for the ability to make a lot of money :lol: - iremon's gonna have a fit at this comment hehehe) and peace? - Arafat? seriously, I've no idea.
 
True, however as with the case with the peace prize, due to its political nature and what is common with politics, leaks are common.

I don't understand why Gore would be nominated for a "peace" prize for his global warming stuff?
