Air America Radio Finds Buyer; Al Franken to Depart

New York - Liberal talk radio network Air America Radio announced on Monday that it has reached a tentative agreement to be acquired by Stephen Green, chairman of New York real estate firm SL Green Realty Corp.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The company also announced that Al Franken -- its top on-air personality -- will leave the company next month.

"Because I'm a businessman who enjoys creating and growing companies, I'm purchasing a majority ownership in Air America with the intention of making it a successful business that returns a profit," said Green.

"To assure that AAR survives and thrives, we'll do three things. First, we'll stabilize its finances. Second, we'll build on its line-up to assure the best radio talent possible, since in the long run content is king. And third, we'll extend this special brand by partnering with other platforms beyond radio to make sure that Air America's content reaches the wide audience it deserves."

I've always complained that Al Franken was, well... boring! I hope they find some liberal talk show host who will kick conservative @ss on the air. We need a left-wing version of Rush on the air, someone who won't *****foot around!

No I think it will stay talk radio....liberal or not I don't know......they want something that will show a profit then conservative talk for sure......but I really hope that a liberal talk radio stay on the air.......Its my comedic fix when I need it....no matter how bad things are going in my life....all I have to do is turn on liberal talk radio...after 30 minutes of nothing but whining and belly aching from the libs....my life doesn't seem quite so bad.......damn liberals are the most miserable people on the planet........cheer me up in no time.......:2rofll:

Yes, a lot of liberals didn't like Bush from the start, but the intense, widespread anti-Bush sentiments (and not just among liberals) didn't come until later... and it came for the reasons that Chanda listed.

And if you're trying to trace the source of the political divide in America, it goes back a LOT farther than Bush's election... look at what Newt Gingrich did in the Clinton years, for one. "Us people" not liking Bush isn't the root of it.

Whether or not that number is correct he MAKES that money in the production company he and Roger Ailes own by creating a production that people listen to so advertisers see a market they are willing to pay to get their message to.

Throughout his 3-hour show consisting mostly of the villification of liberals and glorification of Republicans, Limbaugh continually accuses (all) Democrats of being fools and communists. According to him, women's rights proponents are "(ugly) feminazis," and anyone who opposes him is "attempting to destroy America."

It is routine for Sean Hannity to label ALL Democrats as "vulgar, disgusting, hypocrites," and fools and liars.

Michael Savage/Weiner quotes: Democrats and Liberals are “vermin," "garbage,” "the enemy,” and "the enemy within." He routinely accuses Democrats and Liberals of “stabbing American soldiers in the back.” (Of those who oppose us in Iraq, he says…) “…wipe the vermin off the planet… and wipe their women out with them!”

I once asked a conservative friend if she listened to Rush, and she told me that, even though she agreed with many of his positions, the deceit he used to make his case for them was morally wrong. For some, the end doesn't justify the means.

I listened to Randi Rhodes this morning for the first time, found her broadcast interesting and fact filled. In America it's innocent until proven guilty in a court of law so, no one can state she lied yet until proven by her peers in a court of law.

If you can provide truths toward your belief she has lied during her broadcast, please counter with those truths and facts instead of caste haste negativity from the assumption she is a Liberal, which is anti-American in the eyes of many conservatives.
