[h=1]The Hill: After Trump pledge, top White House official says China auto tariffs 'must be reduced'[/h]
White House trade adviser Peter Navarro on Monday did not confirm whether China agreed to reduce tariffs on imported automobiles, which President Trump cited as a key concession made by Beijing in a trade ceasefire.
"That certainly came up as well in discussions," Navarro said on NPR when asked about Trump's claim. "So, that's just one of the many tariffs that have to be reduced."

Trump tweeted Sunday night following his meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping that "China has agreed to reduce and remove tariffs on cars coming into China from the U.S. Currently the tariff is 40%."
...
But Chinese officials did not mention auto tariffs as a component of the truce the two leaders agreed to at the Group of 20 summit over the weekend, fueling confusion about what exactly they agreed to during the talks.
So, Trump claims to have struck a big deal with China; but his own trade advisors don't seem to know anything about it. The best guess is that Trump heard what he wanted to hear, that there never was a deal. This is troubling; trade is one thing but think of how troubling this would be for, let's say, nuclear agreements?

He creates a problem, then claims it as a victory when he only slightly 'solves' the problem (usually by offering concessions to the entity he pissed off while creating the problem). If this weren't Opposite World, this hilariously idiotic tactic wouldn't work. But it is, so his supporters cheer him on and claim him as the best president ever.

Isn’t it worrisome to start a fight and then call “uncle” first!

Agreed.

On the thought that Trump actually got a trade agreement, stock markets rallied yesterday. Today, they're down over 2% when it was realized that the agreement was fantasy.
