While I am not Catholic, Francis gets to the heart of the social message of the Gospel in his final address. May he rest in peace.

As an atheist I appreciated Francis repeatedly encouraging Donald and maga to do the right thing - which they never did.

It is not required to believe in a creator being to have faith in humanity to do the right thing despite the many who go astray and become greedy.

It is only logical that when humans help other humans in need, the entire human existence is improved, which reflects back positively on those who work for a better world.

Those who call names, put down others, become immersed in greed, power and attention, and do bad things to people - hurt humanity.

It doesn't take much observation of the history of humanity to see that over time, with ups and downs, human existence gets better and better, and this happens despite wrongdoing. When wrongdoers become powerful, they take humanity backwards. When people are instead inspired by good leaders - humanity progresses.

Being progressive is nothing more than wanting to leave the world a better place than one found it.

Francis was a progressive. He was successful.

You know you're on the right track when a dying man uses his last breath to tell you to cut it the **** out.

And then God said, "time to go Pope, let these good people do my work now".

Vance should have named his book "Hillbilly Hitler".

One visit from Vance and he lost the will to live!

But... did the Pope even say thank you?
