An illegal alien twice deported is arrested by California sheriff's deputies... ICE learns of the arrest and places a detainer on him... The sheriff's office refuses to turn the man over and instead releases him.

Two days later the illegal goes on a "rein of terror" which included:

* robbing a convenience store
* shooting and killing a farm worker
* shooting and injuring a motel worker
* engaging in a shoot-out with police
* stealing a truck and traveling 100 mph in the wrong direction down the highway
* firing his gun at random buildings along the way
* crashing into4 vehicles which ejected him from the truck he stole, killed him at the scene

Who do we have to thank for this? The democrats in the California legislature that support the sanctuary laws and policies which protect criminals like this from being turned over to ICE and being deported as federal law requires. Let's not forget about the democrats in DC and all their supporters on the left around the country, who not only support sanctuary cities and sanctuary states, but oppose building a wall to secure our southern border, and endorse an open border policy for America.

After a shooting suspect’s ‘reign of terror,’ a California sheriff blames the state’s sanctuary law

The first shots rang out just after 1 p.m. on Sunday, on a road lined with orange trees in Exeter, Calif. A farmworker standing on a ladder heard a car slam on its brakes, then felt himself falling in a hail of bullets. As he hit the ground, he realized that he had been shot in the chest.

The random drive-by shooting at the orchard marked the beginning of what local officials would later describe as one man’s “reign of terror” in agricultural Tulare County. Within 24 hours, Gustavo Garcia would kill one, injure at least six others, rob thousands of dollars from a convenience store and lead a wrong-way chase down a busy highway in a stolen truck, according to police, who believe he may also have been responsible for a second homicide that is still under investigation.

Now, the area’s top law enforcement official is placing the blame on California’s controversial “sanctuary state” law, known as Senate Bill 54, or the California Values Act. Garcia had previously been deported and was arrested just days before his violent rampage, Tulare County Sheriff Mike Boudreaux told reporters Wednesday. But because of the law, he said, his officers were unable to coordinate with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

California liberals don't care that their hands are soaked with blood.

Make the following changes to the OP:

"illegal (alien)" -> "Jew"
"ICE" -> "SS"
"California" -> "Germany"
"Washington" -> "Berlin"

And so forth, and reread it in its entirety. Should sound something like this:

So you are a Nazi if you observe that illegal aliens commit horrific crimes? :confused:

What an idiotic post. Jewish people weren't "deported" and they didn't run around robbing stores and shooting people.

In case you have forgotten your history, Germans had the opposite problem.

This apathetic 'who cares' attitude on the behalf of the left is why right wing parties are gaining traction in Europe. You don't even recognize the part you're playing.

The message coming from progressives concerning stories like this, is 'who cares?' They only care about the fraction of a % crime committed by those deemed right wing, which is why Heather Heyer garnered much sympathy from them, while Mollie Tibbett & Kate Steinle garnered none.

That was not the point being made. However, the idea that CA is being noble by refusing to assist the federal government (ICE) in removing those known (or suspected) to have violated federal immigration law is akin to protecting innocent Jews is ridiculous.

The idea that those who violate US immigration law are simply like Jews practicing their religion or that assisting in deporting them (in this case, again) is akin to killing them or placing them in slave labor camps is insane.

A state is seen as protecting the public by refusing to grant drivers licenses to those who have had their driving privilege revoked or suspended in another state, or routinely turning over fugitives wanted for committing a crimes in other states, but that if that state cooperates with federal authorities on violations of immigration law then it is participating in evil is ridiculous.

Tulare County is an agricultural powerhouse, home to dairy, citrus and pistachio farms that often rely on undocumented labor. Throughout the news conference, Boudreaux repeatedly emphasized his support for law-abiding community members who lack American citizenship, pointing out that one of Garcia’s victims had been an undocumented migrant farmworker.
“We didn’t enforce immigration on him,” he said. “We cared for him. We investigated the crime for him."

Boudreaux said Wednesday that he agreed with some aspects of the sanctuary state policy, which also prevents officers from asking about an individual’s immigration status.
“We don’t want to enforce immigration laws with our police officers in the field, that’s not our function,” he said. His complaint, he said, is that his deputies can no longer contact ICE after arresting a suspect.

California liberals don't care that their hands are soaked with blood.

Failing to prevent someone else from spilling blood doesn't mean the blood is on your hands. Spilling someone else's blood only to later find out that person was innocent, does. Isn't it better to err on the side of caution and avoid passing draconian laws that carry the risk of harming the innocent, even if those laws might have prevented someone from spilling blood?

I have family from Tulare county. It's turned into a complete ****hole in the past 25 years, due to gangs, drugs, and high unemployment rates. None of these things existed to any great extent before the demographic change brought on by immigration. Visalia was once awarded the 'All American City' award, which was based on liveability, family friendliness, and employment. Today the city is a poster child for unliveabilty, a place where you don't want to raise kids, and high unemployment.

Our federal immigration laws have existed for decades and are not draconian.

The state of California on the other hand, passed a law to protect criminals from facing the consequences of their crimes, regardless of the danger those criminals pose to American society. Any city or state that declares itself to be a sanctuary for illegal aliens, directly risks the harming of their innocent residents... as several people experienced first hand earlier this week.

Deporting criminals who have no legal right to be here, protects innocent people from any possible harm... while protecting them does the exact opposite.

"Who cares" is EXACTLY what fuels fascism. Thank you for making my point with your projection.

That's some fantasy you have going there.

Tulare County is an agricultural world leader, and agriculture in California cannot exist without undocumented migrant labor.
Soon's you let me know how you plan to prop up Tulare without that important ag labor pool, I'll be ready to listen to your ideas.

Meanwhile, Visalia is basically located on that stretch of CA-99 between Fresno and Bakersfield, where according to the Visalia Economic Development Corporation, light manufacturing and industrial/commercial distribution represent the fastest growing portion of Visalia's employer base.

Are you trying to tell me that hordes of non-English speaking undocumented aliens have taken over the majority of jobs in this fastest growing economic sector?

Well clearly deporting the guy TWICE didn't work, did it?
He just showed back up again, like a bad penny.
For the record, California should tweak its policies in order to allow more leverage in cases involving convicted criminals.
I'm not anxious and eager for us to turn the state into a conduit for Trump's ICE policies but if a criminal has been deported twice and he's arrested a third time, law enforcement should not be under any obligation to let them go for any reason whatsoever, and ICE should be notified, because he is clearly a return customer. That alone should set precedence.

We can, even under a Democratic supermajority, make appeals to common sense on this issue and I think that Democratic lawmakers can be pressured to take news stories like this into account.

It sounds like a law that might have had good intentions but seriously clumsy execution and application.

Agreed, ridiculous. One group committed a crime by illegally crossing a sovereign nation's borders, the other for their ethnic heritage.
Not comparable in the least, and yet, some still do, pushing propagandistic false narratives.

You're misrepresenting my quote. So let's review it again, in hopes that your reading comprehension is better this time-

None of these things existed to any great extent before the demographic change brought on by immigration.

What I wrote is truthful, and applicable not only to Visalia & Tulare county, but all of the central valley. Drugs & gangs were relegated to tiny portions of these towns before NAFTA opened the door for migration and drug smuggling on a large scale.

Tulare County is an agricultural world leader, and agriculture in California cannot exist without undocumented migrant labor.

The government is spending billions to subsidize the tech industry's quest to automate other low skilled labor like trucking and manufacturing. So why not automate farming as well? The technology already exists in fact. Let government subsidize it, since they subsidize automation that will put Americans out of work eventually.

Meanwhile, Visalia is basically located on that stretch of CA-99 between Fresno and Bakersfield, where according to the Visalia Economic Development Corporation, light manufacturing and industrial/commercial distribution represent the fastest growing portion of Visalia's employer base.

You dug up an archived page from May 30, 2013. Why? Is there not a more recent source than one that's 5 years old?

Manufacturing jobs in California are predominantly filled by Latinos in my experience. Some legal, some not. Believe it or not, many Fortune 500 companies with manufacturing facilities in California hire illegals.

I'm saying that it's convenient to chalk all of it up to immigration.
My comment stands on its own two feet, thank you.

It's cute that you believe that NAFTA is responsible for the drugs in the United States.

The technology already exists in fact. Let government subsidize it, since they subsidize automation that will put Americans out of work eventually.

If you want to talk about wholesale and exponentially growing technological unemployment, we can have that conversation, and without a doubt, in the coming years we will be. Let's go back talking about Tulare County in 2018.

Here's where you once again start veering into conjecture.
First off, many of the companies engaging in light manufacturing in Tulare County aren't automaticlly Fortune 500's but whether they are or not, we already have laws on the books about corporate hire of illegals. Just enforce them.
California is not engaged in enabling hire of illegals, or preventing companies from adhering to existing laws on that matter.

I think it is mighty convenient to observe a crowd of Latinos and Latino looking manufacturing employees and just assume on a whim that most of them are illegals.
Tulare County is 40% hispanic, 38% of them are Mexican.
