The only question I have is this: How can we sustain a new Command in Africa, with our armed forces are stretched as thin as they are, without reinstating the draft? If Al Qaeda is in Africa, then we do need to do something about it, which goes to show just how much this dumb war in Iraq has hurt America's readiness. Meanwhile, the Taliban are back in control of most of Afghanistan, as well as parts of southern Pakistan, we are unable to control the Iraqi insurgency, which has become a civil war, we are losing our presence in the Pacific, as China is beginning to dominate the region militarily, and of course, and we are unable to do anything about North Korea's nuclear ambitions. In spite of all these issues, we are now going to stretch our military even thinner?
Something is seriously wrong here, folks. If we are going to deal with the war on terrorism, then we need to either pick and choose our battles intelligently, and not try to take on the whole world, or we need a draft - A very large draft. There is no third choice.
