Advertisers Flee As Tucker Goes on Vacation

why does protesting seem strange to you? You're pretty much saying we should just nod our heads and not do anything when this guy says openly racist stuff on TV. Sorry, That's not how America works. We kinda love protesting stuff, ya know...

There's a line between protesting and harassment and even inciting harassment. This is especially true for picketing residences, which by definition not public spaces.

Here is a specific example:

Pretty sure if Tucker returns in two weeks, his show will have one big infomercial for My Pillow and Condoms. Which is actually pretty fitting.

Tucker Carlson’s downplaying of white supremacy reinvigorates year-long boycott effort

Big business hates Tucker because he opposes mass migration (i.e. cheap labor) and supports economic nationalism (which cuts into their profit margins). Leftists and RINOs hate Tucker because their corporate masters tell them to.

It really isn't complicated.

Carlson has one of the top cable news shows in the country. There is no legitimate business reason for any business that targets older demographics not to want to advertise on it.

Sure there is. The ratio of older demographic to younger for starters. If you're a national brand with a highly varied customer base, advertising on controversial programming that could damage your brand to another group that represents a larger portion of that base could be a justification to pull your ad. Some brands prefer just avoiding any potential backlash. Now if your base is composed mostly of people who would not object to a particular message/content, then there's isn't a business reason to remove your advertising.

That does not speak well for America's television viewing public.

Calling White Supremacy a hoax is not a “different political opinion .”

Brings up the question, why in the world would Carlson say that? Given all that we have seen the past few years, I could understand someone saying that the problem is overblown, but why would an ostensibly smart guy like Tucker be so stupid as to call it a hoax? Even his supporters can’t believe that.

"Hoax" is the Right Wing word of the year?

Yeah that's how you support freedom of expression, organize a suppression effort to "demonetize" them by threatening sponsors. That way only shows and news reports you agree with will report only what you want to hear.

Seems strange to me, when apparently only other "racist, sexist, etc-ists" are watching, and yet those who don't watch themselves still feel a need to try to shut them down.

What am I thinking?! Of course those people who can't deal with criticism, disagreement, and opinions that differ from their own are going to do anything and everything they can to insure "group-think" remains tightly under their control.

Freedom of expression only means the right to express agreeable things, and one must make sure to keep up on the new terminology lest one risk offense.

Shades of George Orwell, I can't wait to see how the inevitable Ministry of Truth works in our future glorious socialist utopia. :coffeepap:
What a weird way to say that boycotts are Orwellian.

First of all, you dont watch the show, you just want to silence the voices you dont like. Sounds kind of fascist if you ask me. So if you are all about silencing fascists, perhaps you should log off. But go ahead and, in your own words, tell me what 'openly racist stuff' Tucker has said on TV.
It's facist to not support brands who support a particular show?

Okaaaay.

It's not as much as the fact you support certain people calling for boycotts but then condemn others. Then you state that when those with whom you disagree use the same tactic they're fascists etc. without having applied the same critique to those whom you support. So should Trump and others in his camp not be calling boycotts? Is Trump a tyrant because he has called boycotts? To be consistent you'd have to condemn both, otherwise it's a double standard.

Ive called for boycotts?

No, its fascist to silence your political opponents. Try and pay attention.

Im not sure that 'hoax' is the best word, but 'overblown' doesnt quite cover it either. I would say that the claim that white supremacy is on the rise in this country is a fraud. But regardless of the word you choose, the idea that Tucker should be boycotted so that he is removed from the air because of it is idiotic.

What government has told Carlson he cannot speak?!? Trump's?

People cant be fascists now? Only governments can? Where do you learn this garbage?

So we are back to square one: it is fascist to boycott.

Is that the amazing conclusion you've reached? That boycotting is fascist? That refusing to buy a product, and asking others to willingly do the same is facist?

Lol, double down.

Has anyone concluded that you MUST buy things and support certain brands and make sure Carlson gets a check for his efforts in order to not be a fascist?

Sort of agree. Boycotts have their role, but not here. He should be boycotted for his ugly words on immigration. Could be a learning moment for the public about our periodic xenophobia. Happens every couple generations.Better to have him debate the question if white supremacy.

Its a good thing that I am used to doing all the thinking for you liberals, so I really dont mind. The point of the boycott is to silence Tucker. The unhinged, fascist left wants to silence the voice of someone with whom they politically disagree simply because they disagree. Now, I like you, but I am done holding your hand through this conversation. You are on your own now. Try and come up with something bright.

I hear lots of unhinged, outrageous comments from people on the political left on CNN and MSNBC. I have not called for a boycott or for them to be removed from the air. I change the channel. If you dont like Tucker, dont watch him. There are plenty of liberal alternatives.
