Admitted Crack Cocaine Using Toronto Mayor Rob Ford to run for Re-election

I live on planet Earth, in the City of Toronto, Ontario, Canada - I know exactly what's going on here, thanks for asking.
Apparently not... the drunk again as in the link above is about a video from Monday evening and he admitted to drinking "last night" Tuesday morning when quizzed by reporters. ROFL. edited to correct the day: I'm still on Tuesday when I say "this morning", though in fact it is now Wednesday morning I see.

Rob Ford is the gift that just keeps on giving!
I too hope he wins re-election on Toronto

That's fair, and noted - doesn't change the fact I live here in Toronto and I know exactly what's going on with Rob Ford.

If he runs for re-election, will you vote for him? I'm asking because I don't know and I'm curious, not out of smartassery. :)

Mayor Ford has already registered to run for reelection later this year and I don't see any indication that he will withdraw from the race. If he stays in, as I hope he does, and matters remain no worse than they are, I will be voting for him again as I did 4 years ago.

The man is far from being perfect but no person has ever been under the type of scrutiny he has for the entirety of his term so far as Mayor - his enemies in the media are relentless. I'm just one voice, one vote, but I will not sit by while media elites and those who support them conduct a coup against a democratically elected Mayor of this city. What has gone on here, in my view, is nothing short of a hijacking of democracy.

Actually, if I'm not mistaken, the "news" you are referring to is old.

Except that while I live on the far western border of Ontario (the one with Manitoba) I knew he had been videotaped drunk at a fast food restaurant before you did.
BTW, I was watching Global news out of Winnipeg, 200 kilometers west of where I live, when I saw the clip.

That would tend to counter your claim of knowing what's going on with your mayor.

Not that it matters, in the big scheme of things, but I had heard of the tape earlier yesterday and not been verified, however, Doug Ford had claimed that his brother had been with him Monday night and questioned when the tape had been made, perhaps old news. It is clear that later in the day, after I'd finished with my news review, the Mayor had admitted he'd met with friends and had some to drink, in effect verifying the tape. So you knew the tape's timing had been verified before I did.

However, my reference to "what's going on with the mayor" is not in regards to individual incidents that may happen from time to time but with the overall landscape of activity here in Toronto and what is being attempted here. No Mayor, no politician, anywhere, is under the 24/7 scrutiny that Rob Ford is and the sole purpose is to find embarrassing situations to flog. The Mayor has certainly helped in that regard, but it's unquestioned that certain elements of the media are determined to destroy the man any way they can.

Well he has certainly put Toronto on the world map!

So Doug Ford is either lying or actually ignorant of what his brother did later.

This is quite the pair.

Wow, you never watch Fox News?

I can't argue with that - but family loyalty is not unusual, particularly when a member of the family is constantly under attack.

Actually, I don't watch Fox News - even so, nothing like the scrutiny Mayor Ford has been exposed to since becoming Mayor and even during the election. He's had people filming him picking up a bucket of KFC and news stories manufactured out of it - it's ridiculous.

Lying is what they do, their default setting, until confronted with the truth.
Old-school civic politics.

Well good news today is that the Biebs will push Ford back in the news queue.

If this keeps up Canadians might lose their nice guy image

No one at all ever gets the same minute scrutiny that the Pres of the USA gets.

The President, particularly this President, has had virtually zero scrutiny into his private and personal life, past or present.

What's hilarious up here is that our right wing media - most infamously the Toronto Sun...which seems to have a real vested interest in the Ford Brothers, has twice just got started talking them up in their newspapers and condemning the critics of "Ford Nation", and once again along comes Robbie to blow it all up for them again by going on a bender and making an ass of himself in front of a video camera. What you may be hearing less about is that the video shows a man who looks like "Sandro Lisi" the reputed drug supplier of Rob Ford, and a gangster with a rap sheet several pages long. How is it that the now figurehead mayor of Toronto was out on the town with his dealer?

Many people up here...in the media as well....have some real questions about why the Toronto Police have been so reluctant to arrest Ford or search his car after viewing possible drug dropoffs. Best rumor going is that they have something or things that are equally damaging on the police chief or other top police officials....so they are in a situation of mutually assured destruction if they bring charges. Whatever is going on, the lack of action dealing with real crimes (including murder) that have been committed surrounding Rob Ford's circle of "friends" is not good for the City!

Only those from Toronto, and probably Ottawa.
Don't lump me in with that lot. :)

Canada is a diverse country we cant lump all the people together (well we can but well do it by region :)
BC: Mellow (think its all the pot they smoke), rainy (though it does have a desert but people think of the rain)
Alberta: Basically Texas North, Oil, guns, cowboy hats. but friendlier
Saskatchewan: The place where cereal comes from, almost no one lives its mostly known for being rectangular, nothing to object to there
Manitoba Winterpeg need I say more?
Ontario: Rob Ford, Justin Beiber, Politicians etc etc Yeah they are giving us a bad rep!
Quebec: French women, Poutine, Quebec city, French women, Montreal, maple syrup, French women. Vive la difference!
Maritimes (being lazy lumping them together my apologies to people there: Seafood, friendly people.

To sum up all bad stuff comes from Ontario! ;)

I am from up here as well :)
And frankly I find the whole thing hilarious but then I don't live in Toronto.

other than that you are correct.

You don't think Obama has significant security that keeps the media and the public away from him, far far away from him, at all times? If you think access to Obama is the equivalent of access to the Mayor of Toronto, you're nuts.

And here I thought it was only Americans that were wilfully ignorant about Canada. I owe ignorant Americans an apology - they don't come close to this crap.
