Actually , Even California Says Trump is Right About the Wildfires

President Trump’s critics are belittling him for not buying the lefty narrative that global warming is to blame for the California wildfires. Instead, Trump points to decades of mistakes by government agencies that caused the woodlands to become overly dense and blanketed with highly flammable dead wood and underbrush.

He’s exactly right.

Just ask California officials. Two months ago, the state legislature enacted a measure that would expedite the removal of dead trees and use “prescribed burns” to thin forests. In other words: the very same reforms that Trump is now being mocked for proposing. The September law followed a Gov. Jerry Brown executive order earlier this year that also called for “controlled fires” to improve forest health.

his scientific approach isn’t easily conveyed in Trump’s preferred mode of communication, the 280-character tweet. But University of California forest expert Yana Valachovic conceded in a Washington Post interview that Trump’s “general sentiment is correct — that we need to manage fuels.” That is, to get rid of dangerous buildups of dead and dying trees.

For a century, forest mismanagement has resulted in huge blazes. And while global warming is the favorite culprit among the PC crowd, history shows that California suffered far bigger fires decades ago. The death toll from the current northern California fire, known as Camp Fire, set the gruesome all-time state record for a single blaze, killing at least 79 so far, with hundreds still missing.

The reason the 'fake news' missed it is because it is the NY Post - a tabloid and not at all a reliable source.

Now there's left-wing bias and right-wing bias and just plain dishonesty. This article falls into the latter category. Why? Because it presents a simple dichotomy that does not exist: whether it was deadwood or it was global warming.

Why can't it be both? It is entirely possible (and by far more likely) that warmer, drier conditions exacerbated by an excess of deadwood, contributed to wildfires.

Fire needs heat, oxygen and fuel. The NY post provides only hot air.

The problem with this reporter and her sourced material is that she incorrectly believes that the Paradise fire [as well as so many other fires in California] was in California State Forests. It is not. The city of Paradise California is a municipality with private property.

The State of California has no authority to clear private property of dead trees.

In fact, Paridise Ca is surrounded to the NE by the Plumas National Forrest. So it ought to be Trump out there raking the floors.

NYT's is reporting that yet again government notification and evacuation failed, this time in Paradise, this time they likely killed people with their shoddy work.

When will the citizens wake up and demand better I wonder....

Maybe when the "citizens" actually file their cellphones so that they can receive notifications.

As for the premise of this thread....ridiculous as usual since it is another dodge of the actual issue "climate change"

As the poast above you pointed out, the area the fire began in was outside of state or federal jurisdiction.

Two corrections.

First, where the fire started isn't clear, and is largely irrelevant. The intensity, spread, and speed of the fire was significantly intensified by poor forest management. Hence, fire fighters were too slow and stretched too far to check its advance.

Second, the assumption is (from prior readings) that the State of California does much of the actual federal forest land maintenance with the permission and/or cooperation of the feds.

Addendum to Correction:

1) The fire likely started in Plumas National Forest, probably from a PG&E line going down in high winds. The location was between 5 and 10 miles from Paradise.
2) The spread, aided by burning embers in the wind, was very fast...near Pulga.
3) All the laws in California regarding fire defense zones, restrictions on flammable building materials, etc. were useless.

Two corrections to what? Donald Trump's ridiculous thinking that sweeping the Forrest floor prevents Forrest fires?

Secondly if Trump is unhappy with Ca management of Federal forests...then why has he not taken the task back Ca and had the federal government taken charge?

Why? Because all Trump is good for is blaming and pointing fingers.

Majority of California's forests managed by feds; scientist says mismanagement isn't to blame

Is Donald Trump going to do any work? Is he going to fix one problem in the US?

Decent article and I am able to see it from both angles, not just the one or the other.

Trump knows how to get the ball rolling on topics, many topics. He punks y'all and then you folks just cannot stop yourselves proving you are so much smarter than he is... I mean, raking the forests...pfffftttttt .

Damn he knows just how deep he can drill, grab yall's galls.

Perfect. Gets everyone actually discussing doing things that need done...done right. He did the same thing with immigration and we have discussed it to its Nth degree. Yano?

No? However could you, I have to ask myself? Scratching my head while understanding that ultimate reality.

Trump may get an F or D- for timing { Inappropriate time to blame }
but again he get's a straight A as far as being plain and to the point and CORRECT.
It shouldn't have to take The worst Wild Fires in the 2nd largest state in the U.S.
to make a much needed point. That Jerry Brown sloughed-off even legislation
to help make sure California had Forestry management policy's in tact and upgraded.
Californians should be aware of this.Dating back decades.Beat Poet
and writer of - On the Road - { Jack Kerouac } once worked { or Volunteered }
as a Fire Lookout .In the summer of 1956 Kerouac spent over 2 months on
Desolation Peak in the Mount Baker National Forest as a Lookout for the
U.S. Forest Service.
Whether in - Desolation Angels - or - The Dharma Bums - Kerouac knew firsthand
the glory and importance of great places to trek or just stop and dream.
Surely Jerry Brown must have read some Jack Kerouac.
But again ... Leftists are truly a special bred of American.
Their way or the Highway ... No longer cuts it.
Cut bait or fish.

Who knows, but certainly not for a while, likely until your education system is revamped. Your country thought electing a flimflam scammer like Trump was a smart thing to do.

Now you get to watch as the Saudis make him their bitch, and the whole world laughs at the USA yet again. Mind you, after Putin made Trump his bitch in Helsinki, I'm starting to think Trump likes being the bitch, and is definitely a bottom boy.

I live in forested land in Kalifornia. It isn't dead trees that causes these problems, it's the thick undergrowth. Left-winger environmentalist dip****s bitch and file lawsuits whenever anyone attempts to clear the forest of debris. Some species of conifer need to burn in order to flourish and spread. However when undergrowth is too thick, the fires burn intensely and kill the trees. See the problem here? The leftists need to shut up and sit down.

Sixty percent of all the California forests are federal so most of the blame is on the federal government.

Only if 60% of the wildfire victims reside in or (too?) near to federally managed forests.

Kal Fire, formally called, Kalifornia Dept. of Forestry, mandates private homes to be cleared of all combustible debris within 100'. This is for homes that fall within their jurisdiction. Failure to do so results in fines. There are exceptions.

Recall the huge fire in the South Lake Tahoe, KA area a few years back? The Tahoe Lake area has this totalitarian quasi-gov't agency that governs what a private land owner can do with their property. It's ran by a bunch of tree hugging leftists. Private land owners are forbidden to so much as touch a fallen pine needle. Do so and you can face huge penalties. Naturally no one clears their property out of fear the tree hugging Nazis will come down on you. As a result, several homes burned down and thousands of acres of forest were lost due to thick undergrowth. You would think the leftists would have learned a valuable lesson. Nope. Everything they touch turns to solid crap.

USDA is ran by a bunch of leftists.

Maybe playing the fool, like Trump, is how you "punk" people in the USA, but in the rest of the world it's just plain playing the fool.

Trump is miles off base, and has not started a meaningful conversation. Instead he has, as always, divided the country a little bit more.

Leave a bunch of undergrowth and dead trees around and you will have these types of fires. Anyone should be able to figure this out but, apparently, liberals cannot.

And that costs a lot of money. Anyone should be able to figure this out but, apparently, conservatives cannot.

EDIT: Hey, making these mindless, baseless, accusations is sure easy. :)

We elected an empty suit, reality star wannabe who bent over for Iran and went around apologizing for his own nation, to two terms, so we could certainly elect Trump. Oh, and liberals own the education system lock, stock and barrel. If people are stupid, it's because liberals need them to be.

Stop wasting billions on coddling and caring for illegal aliens and you can spend it on the safety of your taxpaying citizens. CA is like a science experiment of failed leftist policy.

Have you checked the price of fighting the fires? I don't care what political lean someone is. The US needs to do a better job of managing our natural resources. High density housing in a high fire risk area is not a good formula. High density housing even without a forest can be prone to wiping out whole blocks on a windy day if a house catches fire.
