Japanese news sources report that Chinese dissident Chen Guangcheng's nephew has been arrested, beaten, and been charged with murder. The charges carry the death penalty. Chen's nephew will receive a trial, be shot in the back of his head and his organs will be harvested.
NHK WORLD English
Later in the day when I was on my way to my father-in-law's, I saw many police vehicles, and I thought to myself it was probably all true. All day long as I worked, I felt distracted, feeling that something was going to happen. And it did tonight.
Around midnight, about two hours ago, they entered our property by jumping over the enclosed walls, they pried open the locks and kicked on the doors. I heard my mother crying inside [earlier Kegui told me he lives in the same property with his parents but in adjoining quarters], helplessly, "Please don't come in! Please don't come in!"
Then I saw Zhang Jian [chief of the township Shuanghou that has jurisdiction over Chen Guangcheng's village], a man I don't like. I saw him right away. I went out; when I did, I took two kitchen knives with me for self-defense. Then I heard Zhang Jian saying, "Look! He has two kitchen knives! Apprehend him!"
So they moved to grab the knives from me. They didn't have any warrant. I wasn't the one who moved first, and it was they who tried to come to get me. I didn't know who they were, except for Zhang Jian. They showed no papers. After they spoke these words and tried to get me, I started slashing.
As I did, my mother cried out, "Don't! Don't! The child has a high fever! Hurry up. Call 110!" By then they had surrounded me, one man hit my head several times with a thick wooden club. I had no choice but to slash with my knives.
Then they will use his blood to make chow mein with a heaping helping of fetal soup. Here is what he did, in his own words from about two weeks ago:

Seems, from his own words, the charges are not by any means baseless. Indeed, he seemed to recognize that he would likely be charged with murder. Reading over what he said, that he admits to grabbing the knives after recognizing someone there, a person he openly admits to not liking, makes it questionable whether he was simply interested in self-defense. Whether he only slashed after they attacked him or not is quite irrelevant since they attacked him only after he came out with a pair of kitchen knives, at least one of them being a cleaver.
All of this is directed at Chen Guangcheng. All of his relatives are now hostages.
Chen's nephew will serve as an example by forfeiting his life. The family will be invoiced for the cost of the bullet used in the nephew's execution.
His nephew killed a guy and admitted that the only way in which he was "defending himself" is that after they saw him come out with a kitchen cleaver they beat him up. Not to mention the comment that he grabbed the knife after seeing someone he "did not like" makes it seem like he wasn't really grabbing it for self-defense at all. If he did grab a kitchen cleaver for less savory purposes than anything that happened as a result does not mitigate the initial intent. Doesn't matter what you think happened or why you think he did it, there is no reason to suggest this was about anything more than what his nephew did. I doubt it would have changed the response from authorities had he been some random Chinese citizen. The most likely effect the high-profile situation will have is to get the central government pushing against the death penalty, at the least.
The "murder" happened in the nephew's home. He killed an intruder. The intruder was part of a group of Communist Party members who had broken into his home. They had already beaten his parents by the time the nephew came home, and refused to identify themselves.
The CCP intruders singled he and his parents out because they are related to Chen Guangcheng. Going after an enemy's family is a Chinese tradition that has been embraced by the CCP for decades. Same thing happened to my wife's family in Guangdong Province in 1967.
In that phone interview he makes no mention of his parents being beaten and actually seems to state that he was in the house when the police came and acted almost immediately. So, there is no indication that the nephew acted for any reason other than the police moving on the house. Whether the police were acting in a legal manner would only be a mitigating circumstance. That he said he only grabbed the knife after seeing an official he "did not like" is a pretty bad admission. Even in Western countries an obvious claim of self-defense in the injuring of a cop gets little support without comments such as that. Whatever you may think of the people involved or the circumstances, the charges against Chen's nephew are not excessive.
Seem like the charges are actually "attempted homicide" which typically does not carry the death penalty in China. Again, however, even in the West the circumstances would not be seen as reason to let him off without charges and would probably result in some prison time regardless of what the police were doing.

(AP) BEIJING - A close friend of the blind Chinese legal activist who holed up in the U.S. Embassy to flee persecution said Chen Guangcheng agreed to stay in China only to protect his family after receiving threats that his wife would be beaten to death if he left the country.
Activist Chen Guangcheng chose to stay in China to protect family from death threats, friend says - CBS News
Why do we buy things from this country and why was Hillary just there kissin their asses? Just something to think about next time you visit Wal Mart.
The Chinese Govt. has demanded an apology from the United States.
Chen Guangcheng leaves US embassy, China demands apology| Chen Guangcheng News | The Week UK
The safest thing for Mr. Obama to do is to apologize to the Chinese Communists, and avoid a repetition of his behavior. This will involve a loss of "face" by America, but that's a small price to pay compared to the price than Mr. Chen and his family are now going to pay.
Chen was in prison for opposing it.
And that says all there is to say about you.

I doubt Mr Guangcheng will be very active in a 27 cubic feet cage in a Chinese prison for the rest of his life_
His best hope is to be selected for organ harvest to lesson the suffering the remainder of his days hold in store_
You are too young, too simple, too naive!!
