That sword offers full retirement and benefits. It's a really nice sword that isn't there. Hardly a sacrificial lamb. More like a celebratory gloat. As Fox News points out, the IRS Commissioner fell on a sword that wasn't even there. He was due to retire in a couple of weeks. :rofl
appointed by Bush
Is this a character weakness common to all Republicans? When the President is Republican they're competent incorruptible government agents bravely fighting the good fight. But put a Democrat in office and they instantly become corrupt bureaucrats, simultaneously walking the line between incompetent and evil genious.yes, but when his agency engaged in the CRIMINAL persecution of only this white house's political enemies, mr shulman worked for someone else
hello
the treasury secretary requested the acting commissioner's resignationI've noticed the headlines have changed from "IRS Commisioner steps down" to "Obama fires IRS Commisioner". Watching a changing of the message first hand.
the treasury secretary requested the acting commissioner's resignation
and then accepted it
appears it was both
the administration requested the resignation
the acting commissioner stepped down
now, what do you find to be the distinction between the two?

The difference is the message you want the public to hear. There is a distinct difference between allowing someone to resign and firing them outright.
As a side note, the first you generally get to keep certain benefits, the second not so much.
Won't work; Fox News published the written request from Lew for his resignation yesterday. It was, I think, two sentences long. Maybe three. Pro forma in the extreme.
Won't work on folks like us, who read. Those who just read the headlines, this is how it's done.
what did reading beyond the headlines tell you that you did not already know?

Well, where the headline says Obama fired him, reading the text would reveal the truth, that he resigned.
Don't know, but this way he gets his full severence package and keeps retirement benefits.
Good morning, humbolt. :2wave:
Miller was appointed IRS Commissioner by BHO in November 2012, after the previous Commissioner, who was appointed by Bush, left. According to what I have read, it appears that the targeting of certain groups was not a secret within the IRS, but it was never mentioned to Congress during hearings. It took complaining by those groups targeted to bring this mess into public awareness!
Now Miller is "resigning," even though he was going to retire in a few weeks anyway, with all benefits? How convenient.
Perhaps if BHO had not targeted Republicans many times as the "enemy," just because they didn't agree with him, this never would have occurred. Too many people apparently took that message to heart!
then he gets to retire
so, was he fired? you insisted if he was, he would lose those benefits
You bet. Miller gets his pension and benefits. That's retirement - not firing. Somebody somewhere high in the IRS and perhaps beyond directed this. It isn't just a few enthusiastic drones. Drones are drones because they follow the direction of others. It's the others we need to identify. And I agree that the demonization of the political right was more than just words. Stuff like this puts teeth in that effort.Good morning, humbolt. :2wave:

Of course, the first attempt to trivialize the issue as the work of some underlings in Ohio, is now buried by revelations the mighty IRS was marching people through hoops from various offices around the country.
Southern California Offices Named in IRS Tea Party Scandal | NBC Southern California
Unfortunately I am quite familiar with the El Monte Office of the IRS. It's an arm pit office. Unimaginable anyone in that office would have acted on their own. This scandle has many branches, and I believe the roots run really deep.
I think you're misunderstanding something in my posts. I was merely noting what the headlines are now saying and how it has changed.
Is it time yet for a FLAT TAX ??
no
you insisted there was a difference in outcome based upon whether he was fired or if he resigned
i was forcing you to see that your assertion was quite wrong
the outcome was the same
