A new paper published in the peer reviewed journal Nature attempts to explain the recent pause in global warming (which they affirm is real and raises serious doubts about our ability to predict future global temperatures) using the idea that cooler Pacific waters caused temperatures to be lower. But if that is the case then most of the warming going up to the global warming pause was due to warmer Pacific waters, not anthropogenic green house gasses. Therefore green house gasses can only have been responsible for a small part of the warming during the period from 1975 to 1998.

Natural variability as the cause of the pause in global warming is a plausible explanation. But natural variability that strong could also produce an equivalent amount of warming, and that takes away from the importance of CO2 in producing the warming we've seen.

Ah so. Another skeptic got published? I suppose the warmers will shortly make an appearance to shoot the messenger...
