What are your favorite songs to play and why?

I'm currently really enjoying playing:

Foo Fighters - Everlong
A few Incubus selections like Mexico, and Drive
Rolling Stones - Angie
Alice In Chains - Nutshell
Nirvana (Bowie) - Man Who Sold The World
Days Of The New - Touch Peel Stand, Shelf In the Room
System Of A Down - Lonely Day and Aerials

I can't sing and play at the same time...but I just love playing these songs as they are not typical rock songs that get boring to play quickly.

I like songs with minor chords and challenging strumming.
I like songs that carry a lot of the overall feel of the song in the music.
Where you don't need the lyrics to know exactly what's going on.

I'm finding the Incubus guitar player likes to use some very complicated and "uncommon" chords that take a long time to get the muscle memory going for me.

So what you guys/girls got?

Care to share?

Babe, I'm Gonna Leave You - Zeppelin

Richard Thompson's version of "Oops, I did it Again." (A lot of Richard Thompson songs would be fun if you want a challenge)

Johnny Cash's version of "Hurt"

the only song written by Duane Allman
it came to him in a dream:

Little Martha

make sure you tune your guitar to an E chord
and be prepared to finger pick

Well I don't play guitar, but if I did this one would be on my list.

.... oh, and this one too.

and lastly, this one.

My current favorites :

One too many mornings : Bob Dylan
Flowers in December : Mazzy Star
Spanish Harlem incident : Dylan
Time Ago : Black Lab

I have a harmonica collar, and I add solos to most of the songs. I do it as kind of a side project; in my original band, I do vocals / harmonica.

I really enjoy sitting in the kitchen after work and learning new tunes. Helps me unwind.

I love to play & sing the following on acoustic:

Stairway to Heaven (Zepplin)
This Old Guitar (John Denver)
Now and Forever (Richard Marx)
Nutshell, Don't Follow (Alice in Chains)
Open Arms (Journey)
Tears in Heaven (Eric Clapton)
Is There Anybody Out There, Mother, Comfortably Numb (Pink Floyd)
The Dance, If Tomorrow Never Comes, Friends in Low Places, Papa's in the Pen (Garth Brooks)
Only God Knows Why, Picture (Kid Rock)
Nothing Else Matters (Metallica)
Margaritaville (Jimmy Buffet)
Lyin' Eyes, Hotel California (Eagles)

Practice strumming & singing first, then move on to finger picking & singing (after you know the finger picking well enough to do it in your sleep).

I like Angie too.

I'm not very good, but I enjoy playing most Beatles and Union Station songs and they're fun and relatively easy to sing along with too.

Also like Wanted Dead Or Alive from Bon Jovi on 12 string.

We do house of the rising son. But we play it in a different key...it's easier for me to sing it.

Oh yeah....we do a pretty darn good version of Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald with my buddy playing slide. Easy song to play....tough to remember all those lyrics....especially if you imbibe a little too much.

my favorite song to play is .... Dueling Banjos.

oddly enough, Dueling Banjos is the only song I know how to play on a guitar

Down in a Hole and Nutshell - Alice in Chains
Carry me Ohio - Mark Kozlek (Sun Kil Moon)
New Slang - The Shinns
Girl in a Box - The Blake Babies
Breathe, Wish you Were Here - Pink Floyd
Just Got Paid - ZZ Top (Need acoustic bass accompaniment)
Fated - Matthew Good Band
Driver 8 - R.E.M.
Neverending Math Equation - Modest Mouse
Ho Hey - The Lumineers
