I can relate to how scary that sound is.

When I was doing welding, I learned to wear earplugs after a piece of slag flew up and landed in my ear canal. There is NOTHING you can do short of pouring water in your ear to stop the sound and the sensation is.... indescribable.

Is this the same attacker who threw acid onto the face of the woman in Mesa, Arizona on Sept 4th?

I don't know if this is racist or not as some of our amatuer Sherlocks have alluded to but this is so bizarre. When I first read someone threw acid onto a woman's face I just assumed it was a male.

Racist or not this person is sick in the head.

I actually thought the same thing - not a baseless knee jerk reaction, either.
But around the time of this attack those in the media was discussing the attack on black children decades ago - where a white manager pour acid into the swimming pool they were in.

A good detective would have questioned this as a motive, as well - because it's illegal to commit a crime based on race-hatred. If they find the perpetrator, and she's a member of the black panthers or something, that might alter her possible sentence and give a much harsher sentence.

Because in our judicial system it *matters* - a lot.
Any stances that someone takes an ultimately be used against them if they committed a crime.

Example: If I'm staunchly and openly against turtles - and my actions one day *accidentally* lead to the death of 100 turtles in a pet store. It's possible that my open and firm stance against turtles might be used as evidence that I *intentionally* perpetrated the crime.

A person's thought-process *is* motive and can make or break a case against someone.

I'm sure he would, but he wouldn't necessarily be right. I'm not saying this crime wasn't motivated by race, but so far I haven't seen any evidence that proves it is.

because I tire of bias in the justice system

we heard for months about the white thugs (two of whom W signed death warrants for) who dragged a black man to death behind a truck yet when blacks raped and tortured to death a white couple in Tennessee (I believe) there was almost no press.

Nothing makes me sicker than whites blaming their own criminal actions on fabricated black assailants, simply because they know how quickly and easily the power structure (ie, other whites) will buy into their lies, seeing as how most whites are incipient racists anyway.
Meanwhile, members of the black community are the ones who really suffer for it, even when these reprehensible frauds are exposed as the liars they are.

She was cogent enough to make up a lie she knew people would believe (that she was randomly attacked by an African American).
If she'd said an unknown white woman did it, suspicion would've fallen on her even sooner.
The only reason the cops became suspicious in the first place is that some witnesses came forward: some homeless people saw the whole thing. They saw her fall down screaming. She was clearly alone at the time of the "attack".
She was sane enough to stick to her story and persuade others of it for a long time, long enough to cause quite a good deal of bad blood and racial tension in the community.

She's sane enough to be punished for the crime of false reporting, and any other they can tack on, to ensure that she serves actual time.
This is all too common- white women committing crimes and then blaming blacks- and she needs to be made an example of, to discourage such blatant and cynical manipulation of their own white privilege in the future.
