Not long ago, President Bush made the statement that Jack Abramoff was an equal money dispenser to both the Republican and Democratic parties, a boldfaced lie which has now been exposed.

According to Federal records, between 2001 and 2004, Abramoff gave $127,000 to Republicans, and not a penny to Democrats. A few Democrats did receive a little money from some of the Indian tribes which were also paying Abramoff, but that is a far cry from the preposterous statement Bush made. What the Democrats did to get the relatively small contributions from the Indian tribes is another story in itself. However, only Republicans profited from the Jack Abramoff slush fund money.

Article is here.

I'm sure Bush didn't lie. He was merely ignunt of the actual factualities involved. Thus, no lie.

In that case, I am sure that we can agree that Bush made an untrue statement out of ignorance, which is something that seems to fit well with Bush's mindset.

Ignorance, lies and Bush? bah!

Today is the say that Abramoff must reach a plea agreement or face trial starting next week.

The Spinners must be working overtime today plotting out how to turn Republican corruption into an attack against Liberals, you know?

The Abramoff scandal might be the final swing of the pendulum for our Republican friends. If the scandal is as large as advertised the opportunity for the Democratic party to recapture the House increases dramatically.

Time will tell.

And he is pleading guilty to corruption. Who will be implicated?

Lobbyist Jack Abramoff, a close associate of former House Majority Leader Tom DeLay, to plead guilty to corruption, other charges, source tells CNN.

http://www.cnn.com/

The details will follow.

Re: Abramoff Money Went To Republicans & Democrats

According to the article so thoughtfully supplied by aps...

The prosecutors are looking at building criminal cases against up to 20 lawmakers of both parties and their staff members.

Corruption knows no limits, certainly not party lines.

Hee hee hee Yes, yes, oldreliable, it possible that there are some democrats involved. However, it appears that the majority are republicans. I watched some program who said that they had never seen such a partisan lobbyist as Jack Abramoff.

I wonder how DeLay is doing right now......

ROFL none did, then well just a few did, then well just a few and it wasn't much............................That's part of the scandal, he used Indian tribes to funnel money. And $127,000 over four years is $31,750 per year to how many different people?

What I find curious is that we hear nothing of the Hillary Clinton campaign finance scandal, why do you think that is?

Because you didn't find it important enough to start a thread about?

Harry Reid Caught in Abramoff Plea Deal?

This morning's announcement that Washington super-lobbyist Jack Abramoff has reached a plea bargain deal with the Justice Department has reporters salivating over what they hint is going to be a Republican mega-scandal.

But it turns out thprominent player in Abramoff's web of influence was reportedly none other than the Senate's top Democrat, Harry Reid. at the most
In a little noticed story in November, the Associated Press revealed that Reid had accepted tens of thousands of dollars from an Abramoff client, the Coushatta Indian tribe, after interceding with Secretary of the Interior Gail Norton over a casino dispute with a rival tribe.

Reid "sent a letter to Norton on March 5, 2002," reported the AP. "The next day, the Coushattas issued a $5,000 check to Reid's tax-exempt political group, the Searchlight Leadership Fund. A second tribe represented by Abramoff sent an additional $5,000 to Reid's group. Reid ultimately received more than $66,000 in Abramoff-related donations between 2001 and 2004."

It's not a matter of liking or disliking...

Many here are under the impression that because there are Libs here that just want a Con to go down because of their knee-jerk political reflexes, that Cons here MUST use that same reflex to defend Cons anywhere & everywhere...Just not true...

If Delay did something wrong, convict him, throw him in jail, throw away the key, and move on...

When Rep. Trafficant & Rep. Rostenkowski were imprisoned, no one thought the destruction of the whole Democratic party was imminent...It should be no different here...

The only difference is when somebody takes the objective "wait and see" position...It kinda throws a monkey wrench into your perceptions...

Come on people, why's this gotta be partisan? We're about to clear out some corrupt snot out of our collective noses, can't we just frickin enjoy it without partisan bickering?
Thank you...

I just don't understand the "Your guy went to jail...we win!" attitude...

I was asking him that question because I have a friend who is a Republican, but who cannot stand DeLay. So I was curious to know if oldreliable felt the same way. I know what you're saying. When the dems get attacked, I can't help but want to defend them.

You can only defend what you feel...no one here is a spokesperson for their party or affiliation...just a representative...

That doesn't mean you automatically agree with everything one side says, and disagree with everything the other side says...That is a perception held by many here...

Towing the party line for the sake of towing the party line is weak...
