Abramoff Money Went Solely To Republicans

I don't really care so much about the other congressman involved, whether they are democrats or republicans, but I think Tom DeLay is corrupt and has no morals, so I would like to see his lack of any sort of conscience come back to bite him on the a$$. Attack me all you want. I can't help how I feel.

I hope he sweating his b*lls off, along with all of the other miscreants.

I think he's doing everything he can to get his case before a jury, doesn't sound like someone sweating over anything to me.

BTW has the list every turned up?

This guy is trying to save his skin and not go to jail.......He will be testifying as a convicted felon..........Not sure how much creditabilty this will give him with a jury but I agree anybody that is convicted should be proescuted to the full extent of the law whether they be Republican or Democrat, De Lay or Reid...........

I believe he thinks he can get away with anything. Prior to the present time, he has been successful. It's called arrogance. Don't forget how Nixon, Reagan, and Clinton all make rather strong statments regarding their innocence.

I think Delay is only asking for a trial by jury as soon as possible.......I can't understand why that is not happening... Could it be the longer Earle postpones the trial the less cahnce Delay has of getting his job back if he is found innocent of the charges......Nah......;)

Technically, I think the word you're looking for is hubris.

LOL Simon, I almost used that word but didn't have a dictionary in front of me to check the definition, so I used arrogance instead. I need to check the difference between these two words.

Thank you...

I just don't understand the "Your guy went to jail...we win!" attitude...

None of the bums are my guy, whether Reublican, Democratic, or whatever else. Burn every damn one of them.

Say, I have a good idea. Whoever gets convicted, send them to Abu Grabass Prison in Iraq, or do an extraordinary rendition to Egypt, Jordan, or Syria. If its good enough for those who were later found innocent, its good enough for those lawmakers who supported it, whether proactively or silently.

Harry Reid Caught in Abramoff Plea Deal?

This morning's announcement that Washington super-lobbyist Jack Abramoff has reached a plea bargain deal with the Justice Department has reporters salivating over what they hint is going to be a Republican mega-scandal.

But it turns out thprominent player in Abramoff's web of influence was reportedly none other than the Senate's top Democrat, Harry Reid. at the most
In a little noticed story in November, the Associated Press revealed that Reid had accepted tens of thousands of dollars from an Abramoff client, the Coushatta Indian tribe, after interceding with Secretary of the Interior Gail Norton over a casino dispute with a rival tribe.

Reid "sent a letter to Norton on March 5, 2002," reported the AP. "The next day, the Coushattas issued a $5,000 check to Reid's tax-exempt political group, the Searchlight Leadership Fund. A second tribe represented by Abramoff sent an additional $5,000 to Reid's group. Reid ultimately received more than $66,000 in Abramoff-related donations between 2001 and 2004."
If Harry Reid is involved in the crime he should rot in prison with the rest of them.

Come on people, why's this gotta be partisan? We're about to clear out some corrupt snot out of our collective noses, can't we just frickin enjoy it without partisan bickering?
I'd like to think that justice would prevail and all that, but I imagine many of these politicians will find ways of slither out of the noose and re-enter the system like usual.

I mean the Government. They may not be able to get elected anymore but they can still be appointed to positions and continue their destructive work.

Hey scotty, mark the time and the day down........That is the first time we have ever agreed on anything.........

Not long ago, President Bush made the statement that Jack Abramoff was an equal money dispenser to both the Republican and Democratic parties, a boldfaced lie which has now been exposed.

According to Federal records, between 2001 and 2004, Abramoff gave $127,000 to Republicans, and not a penny to Democrats. A few Democrats did receive a little money from some of the Indian tribes which were also paying Abramoff, but that is a far cry from the preposterous statement Bush made. What the Democrats did to get the relatively small contributions from the Indian tribes is another story in itself. However, only Republicans profited from the Jack Abramoff slush fund money.

Article is here.

I am sure the democrats were just as guilty as the republicans. A politcan is a politican, whether they be democrat or republican, they are still crooks by nature of their profession.

Perhaps it's time to look at revamping the system.

Delay's problem in Texas has NOTHING to do with his potential problem with Abramoff, they are totally different.

Considering that Abramoff pleaded guilty to influence peddling (bribery) which included paying for swanky vacations to far flung destinations that included good old Tom Delay going to the South Pacific with him me thinks that Delay is in need of some Immodium.

Did you see the videotape of Delay being greeted by Abramoff in Saipan from a few years back? It was quite revealing. Delay was even wearing a local island straw type hat and when he saw Abramoff he gave him a big old bear hug.

Time will tell whose going to get indicted and then convicted. No use speculating at this point but from everything that's been printed it certainly appears to be a mostly Republican problem.

Doesn't it make sense that it would be Republicans being bribed? Why would you bribe a member of the minority party, that wouldn't make any sense at all. It does make sense to bribe the party in power since they are the ultimate decision makers.

I think we should let the system play out and find out who is actually guilty.....

I know you can't wait to lynch Delay but that is not the way we do it in the USA...
