These days, I hear a lot of talk from so-called televangelists, who call for homosexuals, women who obtain abortions, and others who they consider to be immoral people, to be put to death for their sins. They base their hatred of what they consider to be lawbreakers on the Old Testament. However, they do not understand the context of the law as it applies to the Old Testament. So I will present a riddle:

The Old Testament contained punishments which were very harsh. However, the books of the law, according to the Torah, were placed beneath the judgment seat of the Ark of the Covenant. Why?

The answer to that question, which is quite obvious, is also the answer as to why God loves each and every one of us, and why, throughout Biblical history, offered his grace to ALL those who transgressed the law. Of course, in Christ, God's grace was made manifest, but God's grace has always been there for the human race from the beginning of time. The reason the law was placed beneath the judgment seat was to teach a lesson that NO human could live by the law alone, but only by the grace of God.

There are many today who do not understand God's love for us, and preach to others based only on their hatred, also not understanding the words of the Bible that there is a place in hell reserved for the hypocrites. What does the Bible say about those who preach such hate? It can be summed up by the words of Jesus:

The Word of God said:

Matthew 7:3
And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brothers eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?

Matthew 23:5
But all their works they do for to be seen of men: they make broad their phylacteries, and enlarge the borders of their garments

One need only look at the lives and the works of Pat Robertson and other modern day telvevangelists to understand this. As the Bible says, look at the fruit. If the fruit is rotten, then so were the seeds which were planted to yield that fruit.
