About Trump's Parade

The military parade scheduled for June 14th is.....

Simply calling this a "unnecessary waste of taxpayer money" is not the issue. This suggestion that that is the argument against this ignores the core issue, which the damage (not physical, but in terms of the stature of the US) this will cause. The symbolism and image of this is un-American. It is an anathema to everything that America has been for 250 years. Moreover, it will merely encourage Trump to use the military in ways that were never intended by an patriotic American today.

The waste of money is the least of the damages here.... which, btw, will be less than Trump calling up the NG and dispatching the Marines to LA last week.

Trump needs to stage a fake assassination attempt or some other act of violence to try and justify using the military to overthrow our democratically elected leaders.

Actually is is not three choices...it's an obvious slam in the face toward our military and a round about way to add some hate for Trump. A parade is just a way to honor the military after 250 years of service.
 
Common tactic by Maga cult members that should be pointed out. They know they can't defend these actions. Obviously. So rather than try to argue why it's a good idea for Trump to throw himself a parade, they instead divert the topic to "is he allowed to throw a parade?"

Trixie here wants to divert people to talking about whether he's technically allowed so that she doesn't have to try to defend the obviously bad move by Trump. And to top it off she includes the completely trollish beginning "lol everyones angry lol".

This is common. If we were talking about a democrat, I guarantee you that Trixie would strictly discuss what the democrat "should do" and when we discuss Trump she reverts back to what he "is allowed to do" so that we don't have to actually discuss whether it's a good idea or if it's a bad look for Trump to be firing people all over the country and cutting programs while throwing himself a parade.

As is typical with maga she contributed absolutely nothing to the thread. No facts, no substance, nothing even on topic. The polite description would be that her post is a trollish diversion. If you weren't so inclined to be so polite, I think I'd describe it as a cowards attempt to divert.

Tens of millions dollars for a parade - that will also likely cause millions if not tens of millions of dollars in damage to the streets of DC.

But…we have to cut off food stamps for families because of the debt and deficit

He's talking about taking over Canada and planning an invasion of Greenland....backed by this once in a hundred years military show of force.

As it stands Trump has threatened Canadian sovereignty. This parade is another leg in that chair.

About Trump's Parade!​

Exorbitant, wasteful, and totally unneeded display of our Military, all designed to long stoke the exorbitant and wasteful EGO of KING MAGAT aka Dictator aka Donald Trump.

No good or sensible reason existed for this KING MAGAT Birthday show.

It is not about celebrating the Military, it is all about fluffing Trump's ego.
 
If Trump and MAGA hadn’t inserted themselves with the parade coinciding with Trump’s birthday, I wouldn’t have had a problem with this parade.

This was supposed to be about an important , celebratory anniversary for the Army. Even if I didn’t have family in the Army, I would want soldiers to have this celebration for their given profession. Planning for this event had been going on for a couple years now, for the service members. Hell, i wouldn’t even mind if the Army said a little something for Trump’s birthday and then let the parade be for the soldiers and for those of us who are proud of them.

But Trump has to have everything about him. Due to his comments and posturing, this parade isn’t about the Army anymore: it’s about Trump’s birthday now.

Sigh. Trump and MAGA always manage to **** things up over their self-importance and egos…
 
The "fact" that he has the power to call for this parade in his honor (which he has obsessed about since Bastille Day in his first go around) does not make it prudent or a wise expenditure.

I do give you credit for being the only Trumper to try to defend this huge waste of resources, risking all credibility for a parade, no less.

None of the military is impressed. It seems there was a choice given that accurately reflects your views.
 

I have a major issue celebrating anything dealing with deliberate death.

The military has one purpose.

Killing people.
 
I voted for “unneeded waste” after looking on line for the origin of the idea for the parade. Apparently this was Trump’s idea, based on him having viewed a Bastille parade in France several years ago. If others know different, please advise, but this seems to be another example of Trump’s symbolic militarism and patriotism, the sincerity of which has been undercut by his disparaging remarks on McCain and those who gave their lives for the country.

That is in fact the case. He was impressed by the parade in Paris and wanted America to have something similar.

Now of course it's become his birthday parade.
