This social isolation makes people dependent on the cult for social contact, and over time makes the identity of the cult the identity of the individual. Virtual isolation is then complete. But QAnon cultists then become isolated in the real world as well. Because QAnon beliefs are so outlandish and absurd, often having real world consequences (i.e. not wearing masks), expressing them offline often leads to real world ridicule and social isolation. People lose friends. They become estranged from family. This further pushes people into the cult, and the cycle continues.
