TOKYO, March 1 — Prime Minister Shinzo Abe denied Thursday that Japan’s military had forced foreign women into sexual slavery during World War II, contradicting the Japanese government’s longtime official position. Mr. Abe’s statement was the clearest so far that the government was preparing to reject a 1993 government statement that acknowledged the military’s role in setting up brothels and forcing, either directly or indirectly, women into sexual slavery. That declaration also offered an apology to the women, euphemistically called “comfort women.”
“There is no evidence to prove there was coercion, nothing to support it,” Mr. Abe told reporters. “So, in respect to this declaration, you have to keep in mind that things have changed greatly.”
The United States House of Representatives has begun debating a resolution that would call on Tokyo to “apologize for and acknowledge” the military’s role in wartime sex slavery.
Denial denial denial, sorry Abe, Japan was not a victim of WWII, your nation was the aggressor.
No evidence? No coercion? No these women obviously jumped at the earliest chance to be raped and prostituted by the Japanese military.
Shame on you Abe - where's the Samurai honor in denial and burying of the truth?

He's appeasing Japans growing nationalist movement. If this keeps up sooner or later it'll be us who attacked the Japanese and not the other way around.

They're even worse about revisionist history than we are.

Yeah at least our politicians have tried to make it look like they honestly thought Saddam had huge stockpiles of WMDs. These guys aren't even trying they're basically giving us the bird.

Actually they've already made claims that the US forced their hand into invading Pearl Harbor when we cut off their oil supply, hence limiting their expansionist abilities into China, go figure.

I can't wait until they tell us they attacked us in Pearl Harbor to defend the good people of Hawaii.

Japan has claimed that it was not a surprise attack.

I guess that, for every "Honest Abe" in history, there has to be a "Dishonest Abe" to provide balance.
