GAZA (Reuters) - Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas reached a deal with Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh of Hamas on Monday to form a unity government the Palestinians hope will end their international isolation and revive aid.

I wonder how long this deal will last?

It wont last at all. Just like all the rest of the deals he has made....

The hamas will derail it..
I have a feeling they will kill Abbas and claim he was killed by Israel.

Palestinian officials said the deal does not require Hamas to explicitly recognize Israel or renounce violence. Instead, Hamas would accept previously signed agreements with Israel and the principles of a 2002 Arab peace initiative that calls for a Palestinian state in the West Bank, Gaza and East Jerusalem, territory Israel occupied in the 1967 Middle East War.


Hamas' charter calls for the creation of an Islamic state across territory that now includes Israel. Party officials deny that the agreement amounts to a recognition of Israel. "Our program has not changed," Sami Abu Zouhri, a Hamas spokesman, said on the Arab satellite channel al-Jazeera.

During a visit to the West Bank on Sunday, UK Prime Minister Tony Blair said a unity government that recognised Israel would allow donors to end the crippling aid boycott.
Hamas wants a unity government, but has rejected the UK proposal.
