This is old story but we can laugh at.

PETA takes issue with “Slaughterville"

Slaughterville, OK was named after a grocery store run by James Slaughter in the early 20th century. That name was the subject of controversy in 2004 when People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) asked Slaughterville administrator Marsha Blair to rename the down.

“I am writing on behalf of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, our 800,000 members and supporters, and other compassionate Americans to ask Slaughterville to change its name — which conjures up images of the violent and bloody deaths of terrified chickens, pigs and cows — to Veggieville, a friendly name honoring a heart-healthy and compassionate alternative to animal corpses,” the letter said. PETA promised to donate $20,000 in veggie burgers to the town school district. However, the town does not have a school district all its own.

Members of Slaughterville's town council amicably heard presentations by members of PETA before voting against the suggestion. More than a dozen people at the standing room only meeting offered opinions on why the town should keep its name. Even with negotiations of stray animal shelters, or a spay/neuter program for low-income Slaughterville residents, the town still rejected the request. PETA, in effort to win the town over, gave away free veggie burgers and information about the Vegan lifestyle before the town council meeting. The citizens of Slaughterville voiced their opinion by serving free hot dogs and brandishing signs that read, “Beef: it's what's for dinner.”

I find the part in bold very amusing

PETA is run by nuts. They can't stay focused on anything substantive because they are always doing stupid crap like this. I think a lot of it is just "attention whoring", but it gets old.

They have made several requests to a local university to change the mascot "Gamecocks" to something they feel is less offensive.

Myself, I prefer the group People for Eating Tasty Animals. Their agenda is much more inline with my own.

I think anyone who is in peta is nuts.

I have no problem with PETA other than that their leaders are retards who don't know how to do anything. Most of their members are ok people, and a large amount of them don't like which battles the PETA leaders pick.

jamesrage, you are sooo right..

They are nuts

That's a fake steak... A real one would have blood puddled under it and being soaked up by the spuds. If you want the real deal, try this...

Not if you just put in on the plate...;)
It take time for the blood and juice to come out.

Roasted hog? I'm with you!
Lets eat!

That looks expensive.

naw whole pigs are cheap...
every year I buy a whole pig (yes its alive) and take it to a friend who's a butcher. I shot and dress it and he cuts it up to what I want.
Its cost me about $275 for over 300 pounds of meat. I do the same with beef.

Now this will kill you....We eat nice thick "T" bones that cost me right at $1 per pound..;)
