I ran into a video on you tube (shown below) that got me thinking about this topic. In this video, a group of older die hard conservative Republicans were being interviewed and in it, they all stated "Democrats are Communists". Ths is a wide held belief that has very little truth to it. Nonetheless, this is a topic that needs to be discussed "and understood" as it seems to be the basis for the total lack of communication (and compromise) that is found between the parties. Understanding what is true and what is fake would allow us to go forward as a nation. Presently, this belief has our country stalled in progress.

Here is the video where this interview happened:

In this video, one additional main topic is discussed and that is that Republicans are confused among themeselves about what they personally want and what they want of their party and what they want and expect from Trump. It is evident that they don't know what they want (are confused) as within their own explanations there are dichotomies that don't match up. Listen to the video until the end and you will know what I mean.

In the meantime, I also want to offer a few other sources that explain clearly why the Democratic Party is NOT communistic.

To begin withk, here is a video that explains what are some of the differences between a socialist and communisitc countries are.

No, Democrats aren't communists:

Although the Democratic and Republican parties correspond closely with liberal and conservative ideologies, respectively, with the intense political polarization in our country, we tend to label the opposite party at extremes (with former President Donald J. Trump routinely referring to the Left as "communist").

In reality, though, the Democrats and Republicans are actually much closer on the spectrum than we would think.

A lot of misunderstandings and mislabeling in American politics is fundamentally rooted in a lack of understanding of this spectrum and who really falls where. So I'm here to break it down for you.

I think it is about time for everyone to gain some knowledge of what is true and what is fake so that we can begin to understand each other and become able to work together and not let our own fantasies and misconceptions about others get in the wayof our nations progress. Don't you agree?.

For the same reason Democrats call Republicans traitors, cultists, un-American fascists?

Because the Democrats increased the size and power of the Federal Government by an entire new Department, Homeland Security, and gave it unprecedented new powers of domestic surveillance with the Patriot Act.

Wait, what? Who did?

The Democratic Elites are not communist...they are globalists.

Some of the Democratic rank and file are Marxists...they've told us so.

But most of the Democratic rank and file are sheep and useful idiots who don't know what they are...they just believe whatever they are told to believe.

btw...I'm not a Republican. I suspect they have similar divisions.

It used to be the Reps called Dems/libs communist. They've shifted to socialist and will drive that message for yrs while the Dems try, or not, figure out what to say/message themselves. The Reps hit the Dems in the face who go back to their corner and try to figure out what to do. Before the bell rings for the next round, the Reps come over to the Dem corner and bops them over the head. Classic bully vs 97-pound weakling. The Dems are no Charles Atlas.

Wait, what? Who did?
?????

The PATRIOT Act was passed by Congress and subsequently signed into law by President George W. Bush in October 2001. The law expanded national security surveillance and also brought about a range of institutional changes, such as facilitating greater coordination between government agencies

Isnt' that a good reason to seek knowledge and truth? You want things to continue as they are? If that is reason and YOU are aware of it, why don't YOU start to reason. Be the first to be the "adult" in the room.

You state the reason but do nothing about it?

You can not teach stupid people And the idea that we have not had programs paid for by the government for almost 80 years, Social Security, shows how little many GOpers know about the country. If the GOP had its way we would have a Communist type government with the GOP becoming the Communist like party and no other party allowed with Trump at its head.

I have tried until I am blue in the face to explain the way it's been the last four or so years, only to keep being called the names I mentioned in the above. If you didn't understand the point I made above, not much I can do about it.

"I have tried until I am blue in the face"?

You can try to be the first to admit the mistakes the Republican party (your party) is making. Criticizing the opposition is not what needs to be done. Starting with the mistakes your own party is doing is the start of any solution and I have yet to ever see you do any of that.

The word "Communism", just like the word "Socialism", et al, is term that is used by many repubs to describe something that they don't like. These terms are loosely used; it's nothing more than a form of name calling that only effects those with thin skin. It does appear to stir their ilk though.

Dems are not commies or their mommies.

The thinking is pretty straightforward.

1) Democrats are bad.
2) Communism is bad.
3) Ergo, Democrats are communists.

It’s this same logical process that allows me to conclude that dogs are rhinoceroses and Earth is Neptune.

For the same reason Democrats call Republicans traitors, cultists, un-American fascists?
You're confusing Republicans with Trump sympathisers, who happen to be traitors, cultists, wanna be-fascists, and most of all... poorly educated.

For the most part, Republicans/conservatives think in black and white, for and against, either/or. That is why they argue in fallacies and don't understand distinctions. It's not called for in "conservative thought". This mode of thinking, though, allows them to be easily manipulated, which is why demagogues love them. Label the other side with a pejorative and you're halfway to election. Trump just did it more, but it's been "the Republican way" for nearly a century.

It's hillarious how GOP knuckle-draggers scream.. "SOCIALISM! SOCIALISM!" while enjoying their medicare, social security, and paved freeways.

'Communist' is little more than a pejorative as used by some of those on the far right. The 'base' responds to it like Pavlov's dog, along with 'Lock her up!' and other cat-calls.

Regards, stay safe 'n well.

As I've posted before, research has found that the brain has rational functions it applies to some topics, but it also has the idea of 'partisan' topics, and when it sees those, the rational part of the brain does not react, but other parts of the brain do reach with either 'hate'/'dislike' if it's bad' partisan', and 'like' if it's 'good partisan'.

You can see this in so many areas. How many con men 'win over' people to get into that 'good' category so they're trusted? It's what the term means, "confidence man", meaning they have won the confidence of their marks. Look how advertising uses association for the same purpose, showing products with pretty girls or happy families, to get people to view the product as that 'good' partisan category and like it.

So Republicans calling Democrats commies is showing this in action. If you say commie to a Republican, the rational doesn't engage; they don't think, "maybe I've been wrong and communism is good, and I should rationally reconsider it"; no, it's a word that simply is responded to with dislike/anger/hate/disgust without rational consideration.

And Democrats basically fall into the same category for them, so saying 'Democrat' and saying 'commie' don't mean much more to them than 'something the dislike', and one word is as good as another that list; it's not that Democrats and commie are totally unrelated though and thrown togather randomly, rather it's a shorthand for their objections to both, perceived 'big government tyranny'. So they merge in their heads.

When Republicans attack Democrats, they generally don't want debate, and 'Democrat' has a lot of 'pros and cons' to argue, while 'commie' is more accepted as 'bad', and so they like to just say 'commie' instead as an easy attack, which also reinforces their partisan view of Democrats.

And so the above post isn't simply 'noise' Republicans ignore, let's use an analogy they can understand better, that when some Democrats see 'Republican', they might have a similar behavior that associates them in the 'bad' category with 'racist' - an objection we hear constantly from Republicans.

And of course, a clear result from my point is why our political culture functions as it does, with so many just having those non-rational responses to 'the other side' and 'their side', reinforcing the partisan labels, not considering the rational side.

It's why out politics are so much 'reaction', and are more about simply 'maintaining' the loyalty of people to a group by providing ongoing stimulus and reinforcement (think about a Democrat being given multiple stories of racism a day that reinforce their loyalty, to give Republicans an example), and so little 'rational interaction' between groups.

This happens naturally, but happens much more when there are manipulative interests feeding it intentionally. And there very much are such manipulators, moreso on the right because they have the big money for it. It's actually related to another way of manipulating, using lies to keep people disoriented, which is very much something trump does intentionally. Lies are an exercise of power.

We must always remember, there are Republicans who oppose trump. There's Bill, Nick, Wanda, the other Bill, and Paula. Did I miss anyone?

Just 4 anti-Trump Republicans?

Just 4 anti-Trump Republicans?

I listed 5, but was making a point, that trump had close to 90% Republican support that never really dropped despite all his wrongdoing.

Survivorship bias. The conservatives opposed to Trump rarely call themselves Republicans now.
