While I disagree with Paul on most things, I do very much like this commitment.

A spokesman for Rand Paul, the Tea Party-backed Senate candidate in Kentucky, said Paul “will vote against and filibuster any unbalanced budget proposal in the Senate.”

We need a balanced budget and that is going to require some pain from probably everyone, but our current outlays vs intake are a huge problem.

The problem with Ron Paul is that while he says some things that are true, the American population (and Washington) as a whole are not willing to implement his ideas and therefore he has no chance of winning. Until Washington is ready to make the big changes, a Ron Paul presidency is virtually useless.

A president can't filibuster, so I think he would be best in the senate. But I agree that most of his ideas are unworkable, however, this one issue is a very good one for him.
