yup, if I had $25 I'd donate.

hell bud any amount is something.....;)

You wont get the gold stat but any amount helps the site.
look at it this way if 100 members gave $3 a month that would cover most of the server bill.

Can you make a single donation or do you have to sign up to where you are automatically charged in the future?

talloulou, the donations are not set for recurring. Also, pay-pal membership is not required only a credit or debit card is needed.

My personal opinion is that I do not want people to fell badgered or pressured to donate.

I am working on a popup system (once every month or so) to set reminders when we are below our needed funds. Only non-donators should see it and it will *not* be annoying. It will look more like the redirect page with a pause than an actual popup or ad.

It’s not badgering or pressuring people it’s just a friendly reminder that it cost money to run the site....and that any $$ amount is welcome....;)

How many times have you had to foot the entire bill?

Why is $50 the ceiling? Why isn't there an option to donate more if one so decides? Multiple donations of $50 is a hassle!

I am one of those who does donate, and I don't think that writing in here should not have anything to with donating. We could use a blurb on the home page, that reminds us when we sign on. (Above Polls) Yet we don't need a coercive reminder in every posting.

I'm with dragonslayer on this one. I've been to websites that constantly "remind" users to donate or purchase subscriptions. It can get annoying fast.

Question, since I don't have Paypal or anything else, can I send money via snail mail?

Get your nails, crosses and hammers ready...

I voted no.

Here's why:

If people can donate and want to donate, they will. Those that don't want to, won't.

The people that want to but don't have the coin to do so, often try to reciprocate in other ways, and should not be made to feel guilty or pestered about their financial status.

I don't have much coin. I am a member of several forums though, and I always link back to this one. This is true on my own forums even, where I have an entire distinct notice up for this web site.

No, it won't do any good to hound people. It will only cause frustration. We're aware we can donate, and seeing it on every page is unlikely to change our ability to do so.

It is likely though, to make us reluctant to use the site either out of guilt or because we feel berated and bastardized.

Crucify away.

No, I don't. I love the idea of this website, and I appreciate it, but one of the great things is that we aren't a) forced to donate, or b) repeatedly solicited to do so. You should be free to decide whether you want to donate or not, rather than having a stickey on every thread.

I actually never thought about it, since I have been using PayPal for years, but can one donate using a debit or credit card or even send in check with snail mail?

If this is possible this information need to be added to the Donation information.

It should be possible or become possible.

Money politic kinda question: I have the money but need to know if you donate and get kicked off do you get refunded and does giving money mean your less likely to get removed?

Snail mail:
I will be looking into a P.O. Box today. The only thing I do not like about his option is that it will not reflect automatically on the costs v donation page. But, I have had several requests so we will make this an option.

Very good question!

If you get banned:
In the past, if we had the money in Paypal we have always refunded per request. We are even charged back for the transfer. Donation status will not give you immunity to the rules nor is it considered when giving infractions.
